4GB is dude
Most gamers just run 8GB as they bought it

As long as nothing else is running, 4GB is plenty.

BUT , a system with 8GB is easier to market and sell imo which is probably what your sentiment is

Exactly.  I was thinking if I get 4x4GB on sale for ~75 I might get away with putting a high price tag.  Need to sell before AMD 9xxx comes out, people on CL don't understand much about computers.  If its got 16GB RAM it must be god tier machine LOL

There are so many promos for ram now that there's really no reason not to get 8gb in my opinion.  Newegg throws it in with motherboards all the time.  Also, newer operating systems actually do make use of extra ram to cache stuff, so it doesn't really go to waste.  I got 32gb of ram last year during the black friday sales, and my computer's ram usage usually hovers at around 40% even though what I'm doing doesn't really require all that space.

Maybe if my damn AD900x and UX31A will sell, I'll upgrade my desktop.

I'm all bought out this year. I've decided to invest the money I got for customs + sold my TH900 for a nice profit (bought for ~£700, sold for £850) for a couple years. So far, I'm up 11% pure profit(on top of the TH900 sale) on that pot after two weeks. If it carries on this way in half a year or so I'll have enough to buy a Liquid Gold and a SR009. :)

My PC still sees no need for upgrades in the near future, although if I see a decent overclocking i7 2600K or 3770K going cheap 2nd hand I might pick that up as a drop in replacement to my i5. Long term, I'll be replacing the case with something bigger with room for at least two quad 120 rads and moving to whatever platform intel's consumer 8 core Haswell-E chips come on.

So I got a pretty significant 2 part update for you guys:

Part 1: I finally got an SSD. I bought a Samsung 840 Pro 256GB and I am now using it for my OS and all of my Programs/Games. Kept my old HDD to put all my user files on. My computer is ridiculously fast now. Boots in 5 seconds. biggrin.gif

Part 2: I ordered a custom built laptop from Sager which should be here next week. I can't wait to get it. The full specs can be viewed here: http://www.overclock.net/lists/display/view/id/5337619.

My exact office chair.  Too bad you didn't get the adjustable lumbar support as I've found that a bit better than the other posture fit.

I thought about buying one for the house; but in Thailand it's stupid expensive (49,000 THB or about 1 633 USD).

1600 USD would be way too much, but we have more used options in the US for getting Aerons.  I've been thinking about getting a Steelcase Leap with headrest for about 800-1000 USD lately.

The worst part is that this is a damn good chair.  I see in the States it runs around 550 USD or so; but at customs it might take a big old chunk of change to get it through.

After using this ventilated fabric I can't see myself going back to anything else....decisions, decisions.

An SSD is really the best upgrade for any system (that isn't hideously underspec with 1GB of RAM running Vista, etc). My work lappy is a really lo spec AMD C60 but running Windows 8 and a fast SSD, it's more that capable of doing everything other than playing games and still feels very responsive(compared to the original sluggish as fok 5200RPM HDDD). The only fault is storage space, but that's what a NAS is for.

That's a very nice spec laptop(desktop replacement, I expect?)

I actually bought it for school. I just value power over all else. Definitely not a desktop replacement. My desktop is a beast and I don't plan on replacing it any time soon.

I just ordered the adjustable lumbar support yesterday; I like the posture fit that came on my chair but it doesn't work so good for lower back as much as upper pelvis...especially when leaning back, which I do a lot of when gaming.

Also, this bit from Vendorgear is coming in tomorrow; I'm most excited about this as ... like I said, I lean back a lot and I think good head support will be near perfection in seating when combined with the rest of the chair:

It's a bit spendy at about 160 dollars but considering the cost of a loaded Aeron ... no big deal. But reviews on it are highly favorable (other than cost) ... and so I figured why spare any expense on a chair I'll be sitting in for the next 20+ years.

;-)
