I wouldn't be so quick to return them. Fiddle with it a bit once in a while for a day or two to be sure. Happens with plugs and jacks on electric guitars all too often. I would clean them with alcohol (Isopropyl not tequila - lol) and buff them with plain white computer printer paper. You might want to look at the plug on the cable for discoloration, I doubt that you'll find anything wrong or need to take any action since it's new.

Just exchange them.  The issue you're experiencing clearly isn't a common one.  Seems kind of a shame to judge an entire product based on one bad apple.

Definitely agree, +1.

^^ Thanks for the input, guys.  I will go ahead and exchange them since they were still doing it last night, after they hadn't been doing it for hours.  I just don't want this "issue" hanging over me.  Plus, I've been twiddling it too much already. :D

You should be a happy camper once you get it sorted out. These are a great set of cans, enjoy them.

Yeah, I've been demoing this at Best Buy for the last month or so.  Anyway, success!!  No such issues with this replacement and I'm done tinkering with the plug.

I can tell this will need some burning in, but definitely love the sound characteristics.

Thanks for such a great in-depth review! Going to go find me a pair now!

I am located in Australia and these headphones go for a bit at retail prices. I wanted to buy some off the for sale thread, but am having difficulty finding a pair with a decent price. I wanted to start a new WTB: Senheiser Momentum thread but after reading the rules, I have to be a member for more than 30 days plus have more than 30 posts.

Here's my dilemna: I have only recently joined up and also have under 15 posts. I would love to contribute to these forums but to put it frankly, I have nothing really worthy to contribute. My knowledge and experience on headphones is next to zero, and this is how I stumbled onto this lovely forum from google!

I could post questions, but I have heeded the warnings on using the search button, and thus have spent around 30 hours since I signed up reading up on all manner of threads to build my knowledge. Anything I needed to ask has already been asked by a n00b. Falling short of asking instead of PMing sellers "are these for sale" more than 15 times (ok, so I've already done that 3 or 4 times already) , how can I overcome my problem?

I'm looking to pay $250 AUD for a pair of excellent or brand new condition OVER EAR Momentums, with less than 50 hours of useage, inclusive of postage and PayPal as that seems to be the median rate from the for sale threads, ranging from $180-$300. If anyone here is looking to sell theirs, let me know!

I apologise in advance if I am breaking the forum rules, but I really don't want to spam the forums with pointless posts!

Mods, please delete this if this is inapproriate!

Can someone compare the momentum ear cup size to another headphone, like the hd 280?

No text.

I removed the cable from the earcup and reinserted.  It was then balanced.  However, when I twist it back and forth, it would create static and imbalance.  After messing with it several more times, it finally went away...like it had built up and was static-y.  Still, I can't shake the uneasiness that this may be a defective pair.  I want to know if anyone has experienced this with their pair.

Thanks in advance!

Just get some DeOxit contact cleaner & give the plug a good cleaning/wiping. Plug it in & twist it back & forth a bit & the contacts should be clean & stay that way. Yours could have had something on it like a lubricant or oil from handling it. Nothing to worry about if it goes away. It's not a bad idea to use DeOxit for all electrical connections, even if they seem OK.

I live in Australia too. I picked up the full sized Momentums for $320 when they were first released from Jb hif through some basic negotiation. Given your budget, I can't comprehend the same store not meeting your price for a brand new pair.

My bad, you were referring to the same ones as mine as opposed to the On Ears. I would spend the extra $70 and secure a pair that are brand new if that is doable for you.

I picked up the last pair on a new unit (over ears) from Myers for around $260 when they had a clearance sale smily_headphones1.gif
