Help with On and Over Ear Headphone Selection

I just started a new work commute and am on the train for about an hour each way. I want to get new headphones and I'm very tempted to get the beats solo or studio, but am having a hard time justifying the price since I often hear they're not worth it. They sound good to me when I tried them but I don't know what to compare them to. I do like base but find sound quality equally important. I listen to everyhting, but mostly hip hop. I also like the look which isn't why I would get them, but appearance and comfort will also play a role in my selection. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

I generally try out full size headphones at my local Best Buy store.

I have not seen this one there yet.

I suspect it will be released in time for Christmas though.
