Since the MX980 recently has been discontinued it's getting more and more difficult to find. Before it was discontinued you'd have to pay close to $200. Now probably more. It's easier to find here in Europe and I got my pair for around $150. The TM7 costs $148 including shipping from Hong Kong.

Like I wrote: earbuds can have a much bigger soundstage than IEM's, but along with isolation you lose bass and some (micro) detail. For me that is a small price to pay since I, 1. only want to shove something inside my ear canal if I REALLY have to, and 2. I like the airy and big sound that high end earbuds can present.

I live in Taiwan. Apple's latest items reach our shores about two months after they start spreading in the States, Japan, etc. I've got plenty of time to read reviews. Moreover, one of my friend is dying to buy the iPhone 5, so I can just borrow her pair. Time enough to buy one for myself, then, if it manages to impress me; or do you think I buy everything that any company flaunts as a new miracle? I'm not that rich! tongue.gif

 

In addition, I very much doubt I'll ever enjoy earbuds. I prefer IEMs; I need a seal and good isolation to best enjoy my music and audiobooks. Even Final Audio's very expensive Piano Forte (which model exactly, I forget) failed to seduce me for that reason.

Crap. You answered before I had time to edit out my horrible mistakes.

 

Regarding the MC5, the reviews I read weren't very enthusiastic. I'm more likely to buy the HF5 again, now that I know which tip to use with it.

Once they are avaibale i will check how they compare to my Sennheisers Mx270 and 370. 

The old earbuds got nothing on them.

Nah, I prefer ordinary earbuds. I would want to find a pair of Aiwa's vintage J7 and J9 earbuds that were sold in the early 90's. They had a smiliar design. But that would be because I kind of collect old vintage Sony and Aiwa earbuds from the 80's and 90's.
