GS-x ordered and still waiting... and waiting...

Hello guys,

this is my first post here but I'm lurking since some years now.

 

I bought a Benchmark dac1 usb with Senn HD650 5 years ago and I'm pretty happy with it but wanted more lately.

I wanted to upgrade my amp section and after many days spent in reading and reading I finally decided to go with headamp gs-x that seems to be really good.

 

I sent some email at headamp and Justin always replied fast and confirmed me 12 weeks for gs-x.

So I placed the order and paid via paypal. (30th march)

 

The first strange thing is that I didn't receive any confirmation email or order number or whatever so a couple of days later I sent an email and Justin confirmed he received the order.

3 months later no news from Justin, so I had to write an email and waiting for the reply that didn't come so I resent another email a week later and Justin told me he's working on the gs-x update and I have to wait... ok I think, let's wait.

 

Now we're in september and I'm still waiting for some news.

 

Please, anyone placed an order in march maybe or later? When you place an order at headamp is it supposed to have an order number or email confirmation?

Do you have any advise for me?

I ordered in mid February 2012.  Justin has recently decided to modify the GS-X design to add 4-pin XLR and greater current (?) along with possibly a chassis change - you can find this info in the GS-1 thread.  Honestly, with Headamp you should know what you're getting into.  I fully expect the wait to be a year or more, really I do!  Would be pleasantly surprised if it's less.  I just keep telling myself it'll be worth it in the end.

it's a near total redesign with a new amp circuit board, new power supply, and new amplifier modules.  I actually just ordered the production circuit boards yesterday.  the only thing the same is the body of the enclosure

There probably should have been some ( a lot) more communication over that time but I do believe headamp is a 1 man shop.  Most people interested in the GSX are eagerly waiting for the new version to be released. The plus side is that you'll be one of the first people with a brand new, eagerly awaited amp.  It's good that you're able to get the new amp and not receiving the old style just in time to find out it's been replaced.  If there's a big waiting list you could probably sell your position in line.  I've been waiting to get more info to think about ordering one myself.

In fact I'm happy I will be one of the very first to get the new gs-x, my only concern was about the poor communication and to my eyes the fact that I didn't receive order email confirmation, nor order number and such. Now I'm a bit more relaxed with that and I'll be waiting for the new gs-x to be ready.

Justin is a stand up guy.  I went through this with the GS-1.  However, he came through like a champ.  I'm also on the GS-X list (just recently) - but I know he works on many different amps and it's just him from what I can tell.  I remember when Mr.Sneis placed his order - that was a long time ago.  It's coming and I hope we'll all be happy with the final product.
