No, the hiss is very manageable on the W4, but I still want a bump in SQ (+versatility when it comes to other headphones) and like what is being said about this tweaked version. Plus, I haven't made an audio purchase in a while, so I think I owe it to myself as a broke college student :D

I have the W4 and the sinergy is incredibly good... the amount of hiss comparing with the normal Studio is about 1/2 less noisy with the V 3rd anniversary..

Gah, it sounds pretty unanimous from you two and a few others I've PM'd that the Anniversary Edition is better. I'm in talks with Jack right now about how to go about the switch. I'm still not certain, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to do it. My main hesitation right now is I don't want to lose the good synergy I have with the older Studio-V and my Westone 4s.... but I want better! My wallet hates this forum!! lol

@Mark, any chance of a review sometime soon?

its coming, hopefully sooner rather than later.  btw just having a litty play with the W4 and sorry to tell you but they go very, very well together.  not that im the worlds biggest fan of the W4 and its desperately unexciting though faultless sound, the flat and very well extended range does seem to go on forever.  it does it too without sounding V shaped.  i dont have an old Studio to AB or say just how much difference there is but i have ordered a 64GB sdcard because im pretty sure the V3rd is about to became my default DAP.

sorry for your wallet.

They're both already on the bright side with sharper than usual treble.

On the other hand..  they will suit the HeirAudio 8.As well!!

Could I trouble you to try the Edition 8?  I'd love to know how they match up, has to be better than my old ipod nano...

Time for fun and games. I just thought I'd give the line in a work out so hooked up some AKG 701s and the lod from an Ipot touch to use the Studio as an amp. It tightened and focused the sound with more slam and bass control while driving the 701s as loud as could ever use them. The amp stage probably adds around 6db to 10 db of gain full up. I couldn't get it to clip on the AKGs. maxed, the volume was just bearable for a short time to test. If you don't know 701s, they're notoriously hard to drive cans and this drove them well.

On it's own, there's not enough gain to play the AKGs very loud but the amp is plenty strong given enough signal at the line input side.

Our back pannel is carved by CNC . that said the logo and text will never be reversed. it is the impossible mistakes. for no any designer can design an reversed logo and text then input the PC to direct the CNC macthin to carve the reversed LOGO and text.

I doubt how do you take such a picture??

I remember something now. I have disagreed with some view points of  stozzer123 's thread on C3 and our rocoo p.

Jack, the anniversary 3's back isn't CNC.

Stozzer, could you give an image with the jacks in the shot. Are you going to try it?

Not only is the backpanel wrong way, so is the hi witch is engraved on the aluminium on the back. And as he stated "Sorry its inversed but i think you can still see the issue here!" So the picture is flipped on computer, or taken trough a mirror or smth.

If stozzer123 want to complain  something wrong, he should post the real picture than not public a "inversed" picture.

Firstly as I said it is my fault the picture is inversed, that photo was taken with the only camera I had at the time which was the isight on my macbook.   The issue has nothing to do with the cnc or inversing, you have stuck a rocoo P back on top the Studio player.  I understand this can be a simple mistake in manufacturing, no big deal.
