How much gain should I set on the Asus Xonar Essence ST for the AKG K702

Hi everyone,

Just recently got myself an Asus Xonar Essence ST sound card and I was wondering whether it's safe to set the gain to high for 64~300 ohm headphones even though the AKG K702 have a rated impedance of 62 ohms.

 

I've never seen these options before so I'm kind of lost.

The "gain" setting basically just limits the range of the (digital) volume control. So, the only risk associated with increasing it is that you can accidentally set too high volume. The K702 is rather inefficient anyway, and needs voltage comparable to other headphones with 250-300 Ω impedance.
