HD650 Driver (?) replacements

Hi,

I've got a pair of Sennheiser HD650 headphones and recently I noticed a "vibration" in the right ear when bassy/low-frequency music was being played. I thought this was the foam insert since it was ripped. I replaced these but it hasn't helped. My current guess is that it's the driver.

I have gone on the Sennheiser but I can only find Dynamic neodymium capsule. Are these the same things?

If they are, should I buy 2? My current pair are 8+ years old (so when they first came out) and I've read that the new drivers have a white "backplate", which the image on the website has. I assume this would mean I'd have different drivers in each ear.

I know Sennheiser have a one-price replacement service but it doesn't look like I'll be getting proof of purchase since I was gifted these and the original owner hasn't found the original receipt.

For anyone who comes across this and wants an answer:

I managed to find a contact number on the Sennheiser headphone spares website and I was told Dynamic Neodymium Capsule's are drivers and that I would need 2 since they were changed around 2009.

Might have been a silly/simple question, but there's your answer!

Before you spent money, check and see if that right driver has not fit securely enough to the housing.

 

 

Take off the grill and gently push the driver into the housing, and see if the driver goes in further.

Thank you for the suggestion, but there is definitely still some distortion are re-sitting the driver.

Could help someone else though!
