Well, I think even though the Annie is warmer, it can still benefit from more warmth.
I've got a crappy Canare cable you can borrow. I think you might hate it because for me it only is good with the Magni, which IMO is an amp with zero warmth.
I'm not a huge believer in expensive cables at all. I think if you matched the capacitance ratings of some $300 cable with one that's $10 they'll sound similar.
For example, Cat6 sounds like ALO SXC to me.
To my ears, the only differences are in how warm/full and bright/thin they are. Measuring the same.

Doesn't mean I prefer that..I even prefer stock HD-650 cable despite my Double Helix wire sounding clearer.
You know, RCA brand Wal-Mart cables sound pretty good too. Supposedly Cardas has the same capacitance ratings as the store bought stuff, which I thought was cool. Better shielding probably and doesn't tangle.
BTW someday i'd love to destroy an HD-650 and make a Q701 cable out of it just for a laugh. I tried that with my HD-598 once..it was pretty funny/amusing.
