I've got a crappy Canare cable you can borrow. I think you might hate it because for me it only is good with the Magni, which IMO is an amp with zero warmth.

I'm not a huge believer in expensive cables at all. I think if you matched the capacitance ratings of some $300 cable with one that's $10 they'll sound similar.

For example, Cat6 sounds like ALO SXC to me.

To my ears, the only differences are in how warm/full and bright/thin they are. Measuring the same.

Supposedly the lowest capacitance wire i'm told is the most transparent confused_face_2.gif Doesn't mean I prefer that..I even prefer stock HD-650 cable despite my Double Helix wire sounding clearer.

You know, RCA brand Wal-Mart cables sound pretty good too. Supposedly Cardas has the same capacitance ratings as the store bought stuff, which I thought was cool. Better shielding probably and doesn't tangle.

BTW someday i'd love to destroy an HD-650 and make a Q701 cable out of it just for a laugh. I tried that with my HD-598 once..it was pretty funny/amusing.

I wonder when the last new annies will be sold? What will happen to this thread?

Even with any one of thee above tube substitutions the cost incl. shipping & tax will come out to be less than $300. It definitely lacks the portability of the E17 but the SQ is far superior.

I've heard that you most likely want to keep your amp/dac separate so I'm not too keen on such products.

I have an amp/dac, and I love it more than any of the separate pieces.

Hyperbole is hyperbole. Good equipment is good equipment.

Anyone compared HD800 and K702 ANV in terms of imaging and soundstage depth (3D rendering)?

I wouldn't expect much more from ANV edition than say from general K702, HD800 simply bigger sound and I liked it with Ambient music such as Buddha Bar, but not else, which, of course, are personal preferences only.

The mini XLRs really look horrible to solder. Ages ago I bought some suitable mogami cable and mini XLRs with a view to soldering up a longer cable for my K702s however the prospect of soldering the mini XLRs has lead to procrastination :)

Spacy / spacier and image is less focused, such as left, right and center kind, less precise, so to speak, at least to me.

Good to know, I'll keep that in mind.
