I'll ask Phillip next time I see him and get back to you. I could be wrong, this is just what AKG's global product manager told me when we were designing the K7XX.

EDIT: accidentally a word

I don't think it's super important (now that I've already made a fuss) but i had two pairs hand in hand. The earlier production had a flatter pad and they sounded a bit different as a result. I figure the pad production changed at some point but they didnt change the part numbers.

You'd never be able to tell the difference without them side by side though.

That's interesting, could it be because one's been used more and flattened out a bit? Or are they both the memory foam. I wouldn't put it past AKG (or any other manufacturer) to make a quick change without mentioning it

Curious to see if a picture if you don't mind posting.

I don't have them anymore so I can't take a side by side :(

I've seen pictures posted somewhere on these forms. I think it may have been earlier in this thread actually. But it's definitely already been established that the earlier K702 Annies did in fact have different, flatter pads than the more recent version, which has the same pads as the K712 Pro.

Here are some pictures of the original K702 Annie pads compared to the K712 pads, which also came on the more recent K702 Annies:

That's correct. I've heard that the part numbers are the same unfortunately. It seems they must have changed the shape of the pads slightly without updating the part number around the time when the K712s were released. Although at this point, I doubt you'd get the original Annie pads if you order that part. They'll probably be the newer K712 style pads.

That is actually NOT correct, the K612 does NOT use the same pads, not even same part numbers.

5033718 is for K612 Pro, cheaper non-memory foam pads, 5021871 is for K712 Pro and K702 Annie, the memory foam pads.

So that's one mistake for the AKG rep.

K702 Annie were actually two revisions, earlier one with non-memory foam pads, I think the same as the K612 Pro, and the later one with the memory foam pads that were also used on the K712 Pro.

Looks like part number: 2458M1801

However, IIRC the K701 would be the only headphone that will fit in that stand.

Thanks so much for the reply.
I have a 712pro, i thought they were the same size?

K701's have a nonremovable cable so it's actually a different earcups than the K712

theveterans, above is correct. The K701 didn't have the Mini xlr connector which allows it to fit neatly in the stand. The K702 onward has the mini xlr which sticks out too far and would stick the headphones up out of the stand. There's lots of really nice stands that could probably be had for less these days.

Thanks for the help guys i really apreciate it.

I was searching a bit but i couldnt find anything simillar. I really would prefer a "base" stand instead of the regular stand that can be had where the headphones hang.
