Is this ok or is it going to affect the sound ?

The bass on this track is very impressive on the Annie. I highly doubt the non-Annies can produce it as faithfully.

The truth is, I don't know if it really could be that much better or if I really would want to pay the $400+ to hear the difference. I typically will test out a new set of cans with something of this nature or my usual R&B  etc which has a nice max of subtle bass and high vocals and the Q701's seem to respond to the varying frequencies pretty damn well to the point where I'm a bit surprised. But I guess you'll never know unless you get them and thy 'em out tongue.gif

For over $400, I'll stick to my much cheaper ($240) Q701. I doubt the Any is worth about double the price. The Q701 with a very light 2db bass boost is perfect for me.

Amazon. 30-day no questions asked return policy. The most you'd be out is the cost of return shipping. All of your questions will be answered:

I could definitely understand this. They sound great, but realistically, I would price them at $300~$350.

I'm just a fan of AKG sound, and the K701 style in general, So to me, it was worth it.

I'm perfectly happy with my current headphones, so there is no point in trying another. I am seriously done buying headphones for a long time. I am instead going to spend my money on music, and of course try to actually pay off some bills and save money too. I know I can do it, I just have to be strong. biggrin.gif

LOOOOOL. I laugh when a read people posting things like this on head-fi. You're all so far in denial. Take a break from buying new gear is like starting a diet. It goes well for a week or so, then there's the binge.

This is my binge. Although it's not as bad as some other headphones I was looking at. I'm supposed to get these tomorrow at work so I'm pretty excited to try another AKG. I like the 501 and 601 when I had them so hopefully I like these more.

Well, two weekends ago I almost bought a Fostex T50RP from a local music store for $85 but I resisted. I remembered how happy I am with my Q701, so I resisted the temptation to get the T50RP. I really do like my Q701 a whole lot. I really can't imagine a better headphone for my tastes.

Just curious, does anyone here have the new Audio-Technica AD900X - AD2000X series to compare to any of the AKG phones?

I would be very very curious to hear a comparison with the K501. I have this weird back of my head idea that AKG might have heard all the demand for those old phones and thought about tuning these to sound more like it

You have much more control than I.

I would doubt it, those AT aren't very common, and the chances of them crossing with the AKGs might be slim.

I watched Hotel Transylvania on Blu-Ray through my Marantz receiver with Dolby Headphone. The Annie was just sublime with this movie. Such warmth, immersion, and balance. Just sounded simply amazing. No harshness or fatigue anywhere, lots of clarity. AKG hit it out of the ballpark with this one.

You can have a headphone with more bass, but you will surely lose out on either mids or treble being too strong (which happens a lot in movies). The Annie was basically near perfection when watching this movie.
