I've never heard Call Me Maybe, but the post is hilarious enough. Thanks for sharing.

On one hand, it's a bit disappointing that so many portable DACs are more expensive than my most expensive cans or iems. On the other hand, it's a like a challenge - as in clearly, I need better gear.

Yeah, sometimes I just take a smaller break (sometimes a larger one).
But very rarely do I disappear into the abyss, never to come back. I guess I needed a change of scenery for a while, as well as time for my work, which has finally been catching up lately, but there are still some uncertainties there, so I'll keep my mouf shut about that whole ordeal.
Next time I'll try reading more posts than just the one I'm responding to, taken out of context, not to look like an horse-like animal whose name is reminiscent of a certain body part.

No worries, I think your response is still very much relevant. I like ambiguity and multiple interpretations; it could work either way.

Zero Dark Thirty - 6/10
This film was very interesting to watch. It was graded very high by critics on RottenTomatoes. But what strikes about this movie is how differently it is perceived by American and international public.
If you check the reviews on IMDB you'll see that the majority of international viewers doesn't like the movie. I also checked Russian movie sites and from there you can feel the anger about the movie. There are two types of rants:
1. The movie is boring, characters are flat etc. How come it was nominated for Oscars?
2. The movie is obvious propaganda.
Oscar favourite Zero Dark Thirty is torture to watch - and about as subtle as Die Hard ( Dailymail UK)
"Frankly, that’s a superficial, foolish and parochial way to approach the war on terror, and this is a silly, at times despicable film that never remotely deserved an Oscar nomination. Compared with this, Team America: World Police was a think piece."
Zero Dark Thirty: CIA Hagiography, Pernicious Propaganda ( Gardian UK)
My personal rant:
The movie is nothing more than a blatant feminist message.
Kathryn Bigelow is a famous feminist. According to one of the most influential feminist theorist Judith Butler: "Butler's central thesis - "that, in a way we are all transvestites" - challenges popularly held views of tranvestite-ism, and destabilizes traditional modes of constructing gender identity. Most people think that they're not transvestites because they do not go out wearing the clothing of the opposite sex."
Th main hero of ZDT Maya kicks men asses during the whole movie. She is smarter, more patriotic and more persevering than men who look like caricatures.

Oohhhh.... I haven't watched Zero Dark Thirty but my friend said it kinda sucked, and that Argo was much better. (He then said Argo wasn't very good either). I can't really say anything since I haven't been watching a lot of movies but what I can say is that Wreck-it Ralph and Silver Linings Playbook are very good movies.

I did because it's our old friend mutabor.
It's also an example of how humans can contort anything to fit their ideals.
IMO, ZDT was a very good movie. It may not have been totally accurate, but it portrayed the spirit behind the killing of OBL

Not to mention the distinct possibility that it's going to steal my TMAC-avatar-that-was-especially-made-for-Mupps thunder.

Was starting to get worried as it got pretty quiet around here all of a sudden.

Ungh, I haven't seen ZDT and I really don't want to be that guy, but I did have a knee jerk reaction to all the emphasis placed on Maya in the trailer I saw. Like, there was clearly more focus and dramatic tension given to her being stressed out and passing a brief case around than the dudes who actually had to risk their lives to go get Osama and that feels disingenuous. Of course, maybe the actual movie's different, but the trailer seemed to be saying "she's the real hero" and it did bother me. I'd feel the same way if it was really focused on Obama or something too.
I don't think I care enough to actually see the movie, though.

Two thirds of the film was about the struggle of actually tracking down OBL. The last third was the best because it systematically went through the raid itself.
The entire movie was awesome, and well worth a watch.

I could do without the Facebook-type status updates on certain members' arrant lunacy.
And if we're going with the loons, why not use a more whimsical example of unique interpretations like that ancient aliens guy from the History Channel?
