Hey, you'd be surprised by how effective a knot can be! Although... for that to be truly effective, they'd have to tie a second knot on the outside of the housing as well. Pushing the cable in and out - within the slack between the joint and internal knot - can also wreak havok on the solder joint. Still, that doesn't solve the problem of torsional forces due to cable twisting. Damn, now I'm overthinking it all.
