People used to tell me I looked like Mickey from American Chopper, but then I started keeping my hair short and grew a Riker beard and now I look nothing like him except for the fact that I'm white and big.  Iuno, I can't think of a celebrity right now who has similar facial structure to my own.  Someone gave me one more recently, but I can't remember the name; it was no one I had ever heard of.

Minus the earrings. My parents would have aneurysms if I got those. Also hair, add hair. I'm also about 6 inches taller

Yeah, that's what bad food and beer does for you. Although, I'm pretty sober and I eat better nowadays, so no reason to keep looking like Farley anymore. Last fall I lost about 30 lbs, which I then regained due to quitting the training and going back to unhealthy foods and snacks. Time to lose that weight again and try to keep it that way.

Thank you muppetface. Yeah, I had too much personal stuff going on outside the scope of this thread last year. Most of which are much better now.

 

Interesting. One of my best friends looks a lot like that. There's a mutual attraction, but we've never been single at the same time.

 

During the indie bubble of the `90s, Liefeld was seemingly everywhere. I personally couldn't stand his "style". "WTH, learn to draw feet, buddy, and while you're at it, take an anatomy class." He was largely involved with the books I didn't follow, so I didn't care. Over time, however, I started to feel sorry for the guy. Sure, he's no Jim Lee or Frank Miller, my two favorites, but I don't believe he deserves the scorn piled upon him. In 2006 I saw him in the hotel lounge at Dragoncon, alone and staring into a basket of peanuts, so I bought him a drink and talked with him for over an hour. Like his art, he's bombastic, but genuinely a good guy. IMO, the angst and criticism directed at him is usually more adolescent than his drawings, and that's saying a lot.

Man I used to play Q3 Arena on the Dreamcast a lot, used to think I was real good til I stepped online. Man was that comical. That was back when Sega allowed crossplay between PCs and consoles, felt like livin in the future, 56K modem aside. Anyway, I got my cocky ass handed to me every single time I rounded a corner. Tragic. M+K and single analog (lol) controller aren't remotely in the same sphere of existence when it comes to response time. And thus ended my rather short career as a "pro" Quake player 

You know, it's funny cause I used to think Cable, and Deadpool and X-Force were the supreme hotness back in the days of yore. That's how Liefeld got you, he was channeling that bad boy MTV grit into his characters when everyone else looked lame and dorky in their squeaky clean spandex. Todd McFarlane too. Oh, and Marc Silvestri and... well, it's cyclical really. 

 

My sister actually attended SVA in New York for cartooning and I joking requested for her to troll everyone by saying she was a huge fan of Liefeld, needless to say, none of her professors or peers were all that amused. It turns out that Rob is living the American Dream of success through mediocrity, got his foot (lol) in during a cynical time when meeting quotas was prioritized over quality, and that makes struggling artists and comics very mad indeed

The thing is that if someone with as big a name as him, having drawn for quite a while like he has, still manages to draw feet as if he didn't know how to draw feet - I'm thinking that maybe it's intentional rather than him not knowing how to draw. Call it his "style" rather than a flaw, because that's probably where I'm going with this post. Love it or hate it, just do it acknowledging that it seems to work out for him though.

I'm convinced Rob does it cause he thrives on their ire. It sustains him and keeps him youthful like ingesting sheep placenta. And I honestly get a kick out of his work and the legion of anti-fans who still can't get over the fact that he's a living Cinderella story
