Agreed on the BHSE. It's the perfect amp for the SR-007mk1 to my ears, as it can wake those transducers up from their slumber with its reserves of power, but it just didn't sound nearly as engaging with the SR-009 to me. That's why I ended up with the LL. It lacks the power and subsequent driver control of the BHSE, but sounds more alive, harmonically satisfying, and has a more convincing open three-dimensional presentation (especially with the older SR-Omega). With the SR-007mk1 however it's a bit too polite for some peoples' tastes.

 

The LL also kicks all kinds of ass with the Jade.

I think the HD800 is one of the best all rounders out there. It has precision approaching stats, impact of dynamics, the best vocals in the business, deep primordial but controlled bass. While I think there are probably better headphones for rock or electronica, HD800 is still very good and can reveal a lot in that music you may not notice with traditional rock phones.

I would be really interested in Jades II. Talk about an ideał electronica headphone...

It is indeed lighter and does start up faster. But it has/had some compatibility issue with some programs and the stupid new start menu just drove me batty... If they at least allowed you to bypass it and still use the original start menu I'd have stayed with it.....

Personally I think the "HD800 are sterile" thing is the result of people not hearing them on a synergistic rig. They require the right tubes (more than almost any other headphone I've heard), even if you're listening on an ECBA.

 

That the HD800 sound sterile, lifeless, lacking soul or what ever without the use of something like a Leben CS300 or DNA Stratus I would consider a pretty huge design flaw.

I like to see headphones made with the right euphony from the start.

But the HD800 on the Leben with 3 dB bass boost is pretty darn nice..

See, that's what I'm hoping, going balanced will quicken some vita into them.

 

I find the PS1000 to be the headphone the HD800 should have been when it comes to making music come alive and having that WOW factor.

I agree with the sucked out mids for sure.

The PS1000 is not a perfect headphone but have that visceral and "realness" quality only a few headphone I listened to can bring with some music. Too bad it's 1000$ overpriced...

I'm still on Win 7 though and probably will be for another couple of years.  Well, for my desktop at least.  I just don't see any incentive to upgrade when my computer "just works" already (except for the erratic SSD, but I'm 99% sure it's hardware).

Testing testing.....making a post on here using a smartphone is different to say the least. Oh well, congratulate me people I just got myself an iPhone 5. I don't think I'll be using my phone for to much web browsing. Never could understand what was the big deal about browsing the net with a smartphone. In a pinch it'll do but it's far from an enjoyable experience

As a whole package it is impressive, and if you have very little space, I can't think of a better solution. If you do have space, though, you can do better or at least have more choice in mixing and matching other components.

Don't worry, you'll get used to it quickly. Half my posts now are via smartphone like this one.
