(Edit:  After looking at the pics again, I'm beginning to wonder if JVC is using Fostex as an OEM now that Denon isn't.

Nothing nearly so bad. My roommates are civil with me, but they are annoying sometimes.

One will wake up from the lightest noise and he gets VERY upset when he gets woken up. Incredibly annoying.

Plus I don't know, I'm not a quiet person per se, but I need my alone time to recharge. Complete alone time -- I had the same problem with my parents who were quite nosy and would frequently come bother me in my room. I just need total alone time where no one can bother me. Obviously, when sharing a room with 2 other people, this is impossible. So it's more a problem with me than a problem with the roomies.

wait... I'm confused. I thought fostex was a part of denon? I'm not sure how this stuff really works...

Fostex and Denon are two completely different companies. Denon decided they wanted headphones that didn't sound like crap so they approached Fostex and struck a deal with them and Fostex became Denons OEM  headphone manufacturer. For whatever reason both companies decided to part company and Fostex continued on their merry way engineering good sounding cans while Denon went out and found another company to be their OEM manufacturer for their headphones. End result, the Fostex engineered AH-D7000 was dropped from Denons product line, as well as the rest of the Dxxxx line, and was replaced with the new AH-D7100 which was engineered and tuned by someone else.

 

Has anyone figured out yet who Denon's new OEM manufacturer is? I'm rather surprised nobody knows anything about this new OEM.

They look identical to the DX 1000 to my untrained eyes. I have no eyes for fashion stuff as you all probably realized already lol

ah, thanks for clearing that up. I was a bit hazed by that. So otherwise, Denon's never really been good until the made the deal with Fostex? Only other company that went downhill with a flagship was AKG since they were bought by Harmon.

Fostex is Foster, a huge manufacturing conglomerate. They have a healthy portfolio of headphone technologies that they market out as an OEM. Ever since biocellulose proved too expensive and unsustainable, they have switched to pimping microfiber. I'm not sure who manufactures the new Denon line, but I think it is likely that they found an OEM which allowed for greater customization. Oh, so they pretty much just sell out their design/tech for other companies Yes to the orthos too :s

These look cool.. stats by the look of the cable. Can't seem to find any information about them. Looked all over. The picture is only captioned: 'King Sound' which is a electrostatic speaker maker, but their site shows only speakers.

Yeah I agree the TH600 kinda looks like **** due to that black finish lol. I thought it was plastic but isn't it wood? Anyways it's a cheaper option than getting the TH900 with similar if not the same sound. Then again I know someone who I can get refurb TH900s for a great price so it don't really matter to me :).
