The PlayBook sells a lot better in Canada (iirc, it's the only country where it outsells Android tablets), so RIM doesn't have to cut prices as dramatically to keep sales numbers up. You have to live where nobody wants the thing to get a good deal.

MF, you've heard LCD2 with both tube and ss amps I bet, can you comment on any differences in sound?
I've read a few comments stating that an exceptionally transparent amp such as the BHA-1 or GS-X takes the LCD2 from HD650 territory and brings it more towards HD600. More neutral and better imaging, perhaps faster as well. I've heard these on only tube/hybrid amps except one. Pinnacle, WA5, Liquid Fire, ALO Triode amp, Lyr, and the only SS, RSA's Darkstar. The only one that didn't sound slower, over-smoothed, and relaxed was the Darkstar. In my future is likely a GS-X, Schiit SS Statement, or later perhaps a Darkstar. I remember hearing whispers about an Eddie Current SS amp too. Been itching for an ortho for a while, though they tend to have center focus issues I don't like, not willing to pay for a LCD3 and HE-6 is a torture device (fitment is terrible) so that leaves only 1 choice. Since I've only heard them on one SS amp, I can't be sure what I heard with the Darkstar will happen again with other SS amps. LCD2 on a tube or hybrid does not interest me at all, but LCD2 on a cheaper-than-Darkstar SS amp might satisfy me for a bit.
Word is Craig is making a super-powerful solid state amp in the vein of the Darkstar. Not sure if it'll be going into production however. You may want to ask Purrin or Anaxilus about that since they've talked to Craig about it.
Keep in mind I have the original rev. 1 of the LCD-2, and I've only heard the rev. 2 on some unfamiliar setups. It's going to sound more syrupy on less transparent amps in my experience. On the ZDSE it sounds more clear and the bass in particular isn't quite so dinosauric, though the ZDSE is pretty transparent / neutral compared to a lot of other tube amps. Basically more "traditional" tube amps like the Leben will result in a thicker, warmer sound. The rev. 1 LCD-2 is never going to sound super resolving and clear however; the amp can only do so much.
Really, it's all about implementation. Eddie Current tube amps are some of the most transparent out there despite being tubes, and plenty of solid state amps sound warm and tubey. If you're set on a solid state amp, you may want to wait and see if the Liquid Gold is going into production this spring. I've been listening to the prototype, and to my ears it's one of the best solid state amps I've heard. Better than the B22.

On that vein, I've always been thinking of getting the new gen portable consoles, but looking at my NDS lite and Nexus 7, I'm sure I'm not going to use it since the Nexus 7 does way more stuff than just play games.

Holy crap, I love the look of that, sexy monolith-esque. I've been really really toying with the idea of only getting another desktop for a storage server. Although I love my desktop, I don't like fan noise, too cheap for water cooling, and most of the games I play now are easy to run (LoL and Awesomenauts). I'm pretty much unkempt as far as my room goes, but it DRIVES ME INSANE when my desk isn't perfect. Just a thing of mine, I suppose.
This is why I decided to go with Fractal Design Node 304 for my mini-ITX rig (currently using a Cooler Master Elite 120... doesn't look as sexy.)

Yeah, the OPA627 is a rather fun listen. Rather smooth and musical to my ears.

I really like that. I can't quite tell if its a laptop sleeve or a purse. I saw an iPhone case with a similar kind of melty design, I've been tempted but then it wouldn't fit in a slim profile in my pocket :P

The NT 6 Pro's highs are never harsh or sibiliant, but they can feel over-saturated sometimes on the UHA-6 with the stock 8610; the OPA627 really snaps it all into place and brings a larger, tighter sense of space to acoustic recordings, too. This particular combo hasn't got many downsides at all; though I felt compelled to play nothing but acoustic recordings, so I'll have to see how it works with electronica etc.
I'll be trying the amp with the 4.A later today, and see what that does.

My toybox from Japan arrived via Tenso. I've got the following sitting at the foot of my bed: Senn IE800, AT CKM1000, JVC FXD80, and JVC FXZ200.
Purse.

Initial verdict: Not bad, brings some space and rhythm to the proceedings, but dials back the highs of the 4.A a little more than I want -- The 8610 op-amp keeps the 4.A's highs where I want them (tho' they're slightly brittle) on the UHA-6, and the SR 71B amp manages to do the space-and-rhythm thing as well or better, without the same feeling that the highs are getting sacrificed.
UHA-6S with OPA627 -> NT 6 Pro is still the unbeatable combo.
Though to be fair, there seem to be an increasing number of purses with padded sections for a Kindle or iPad or even a laptop.

Wish I could find an HD800 at a reasonable price. If they pair well with the Zana Deux, I might purchase a set new. Just hate to spend that kinda money on headphones.
Crutchfield sells their refurb units for $1100... --> http://www.crutchfield.com/S-32LDyCo37tm/p_143HD800R/Sennheiser-HD-800-Factory-Refurbished.html
Most of the Refurbs seem like new (at least from some past purchases done there). Plus Crutchfield's customer support/service is outstanding...
