Yes, exactly, that's the treble clef.  Also, if we only look at the top half of the speaker, we can see a bass clef (the second one) as well.

So...

 

I think I'm DONE with the headphone mini "craze" I had... at least I haven't even checked for deals in 3 weeks or so, that's an improvement! ;-)

 

Staying with my Ultrasone Signature Pro, MrSpeakers Mad Dogs and Sennheiser HD600s (and my cheapo Pannies). I'll maybe look into the close-back Audeze's in the future...

 

Anyway, got my braces yesterday!!! Holy....

I'm pretty sure I will probably lose a few pounds! I eat a lot of junk food and ... guess what, most of it I wont be able to eat, nor drink Coke, etc. etc. It feels like I have a mouthpiece (boxing/martial arts) in my mouth!! AARRRGHHHH!!! Whyyyy?!?!?!?  ;)

Thinking about placing an order for the ORB Jade-To-Go tomorrow morning to make myself feel better about the scary lecture I have to give later in the day...

 

Edit #1: Also OH GOD I hate those cramps where your feet lock up and the only way to fix it is to walk around. GO AWAY ARGH.

 

Edit #2: I get similar cramps in my hands when I've been writing for a while. To my knowledge I haven't been writing with my feet any time recently however. Unless I'm doing it in my sleep. That would be very interesting.

 

Edit #2.5: Maybe I need more potassium?

Try an assortment of nuts and seeds, or dietary supplement pills, whichever you can find first.

 

It could be a lack of calcium, look up hypocalcemia.

I thought she said she was going to buy floorstanding speakers after she moved?, then again I haven't followed Romy's posts in a long time.

 

 

A_rec the KEF Q300 and XQ10 are pretty average sounding, they are pretty flat, and pretty dull, the LS50 is much better and more delicate, a small slice of perfection, but super expensive, painted Aluminium, slightly uneasy aesthetics.  The singularity point source radiation is cool, but nothing all that stellar, anyway thanks for indirectly making me interested in KEF.

 

Also, the LS50 still didn't come close the shimmer I experienced in that Kevlar / Titanium car audio system.  I find it funny an 18-year-old in sweatpants with a nice car is directing my choice path in speakers lol.

I've never really heard anything by KEF; they seem like a whiz bang company. I think the LS50 in black looks nice!

 

Scandyna makes really cute speakers too :3

 

 

We just have a set of Mission floor standers for our home theatre and I have a pair of Aktimate Mini's and a nice sealed sub from an Australian company for desktop usage. As much as I find speakers fascinating (its especially fun to make your own!) they consume so much space and require such a specific context for enjoyment - not to mention room resonances and other considerations. I think I'll stick with headphones until one day I make it big maybe lol.

Yeah, I wont be moving until mid next year.

 

I think part of what is drawing me to speakers is the fact that they are so uncompromising, sort of like what I was yammering on about with regard to the Muramasa. When you get a pair of headphones, it's fun to imagine it's like meeting a new person. With speakers... it's kind of like getting married lol. It's a huge commitment, and they invade your personal space.

 

I like seeing how various considerations and factors "shape" something. In headphones and in IEMs, those boundaries and goals shape them in this way or that way, and with speakers it's another way. I guess that goes back to cabinet and driver design too: seeing how these acoustic and aesthetic goals are like hands at a potter's wheel, resulting in a form that is kind of a physical manifestation of certain values.

 

IEMs and speakers, though very different and occupying opposite ends in form, are both actually pretty similar in intensity. Just in their own ways. With IEMs there's a certain intimacy in taking them into your person. With speakers there's is a similar act, only scaled to the intimacy of one's living space: one is committing to an object which demands a good portion of personal space. After all, in dream analysis people seem to equate the home with the body.

Also: Romy I think I just ended up typing a reply that I realise afterwards was a very "Romy Thought" approach to the headphone hobby. Either you have deeply influenced by thinking about the hobby or you are somehow controlling my mind. (Passive vs active persuasion). OooooOOOOo.

In the first case you might be disappointed because you feel you chose the wrong film on the day, but in the second case you might be disappointed in the film, but never your choice.

Yeah, IEM's are a laser deep in our canals, injecting our head with sound candy.  Speakers rape the air we breathe, and can immerse an entire soccer stadium.
