Sounds like your volume pot could be going then. Send it in and Nick will take care of it. The guys generally pretty good with his customers.

That's horrible to hear MF. Hope it all goes well and you can share more about in this thread. Also I seem to remember about the TH600 out of the blue. This one question isn't exactly aimed towards you MF: When is it coming out? I'm kind of interested in it. Hoping that it's the same sound signature as the TH900 only urushi-less, but then that wouldn't make much sense IMO.

Well, it took me long enough, but the first two sections are out on my CIEM retrospective. It's not as fleshed out as I originally conceived, but it's what I could do with the time I have now --- hopefully the diary regulars find it interesting.

After reading james444's early impressions I'm starting to wonder why Sennheiser can't seem to find a happy medium. Either it's overly bright and thin (HD800, HD700) or it's boomy or bloated (IE8, Momentum). At this rate I'm guessing I should keep an eye open for a good deal on a HD650 learn to live with the Sennheiser veil and call it a decade as far as Sennheiser is concerned.

Nice writing style and photos Tom, could be magazine quality with some more photos, you could send a copy to Newsweek or The Economist, just an idea.

Or at the very least maybe hit up mike from Headfonia and see if he would be interested in maybe throwing up some of your thoughts. He's done it before with various head-fiers who post on here on a regular basis.

haha thanks guys. I'm just trying to have fun with the prose. The analogies aren't all that consistent; I'm sure MF could walk all over this if she tried. And no such luck with more photos. I just stuck in two of my more artsy-fartsy photos during that trip to highlight the mood of HK. I think audio is difficult to make photogenic.

I don't know, I wouldn't give any intellectual property to hedfoneia if it was me.

 

 

They're a little too commercial, review-ish and bland for my liking, it seems like everything has a luke-warm positivistic review "this one has excellent black levels, quite good depth, not so much height, with a tonal focus on the low treble" means [and looks like] very close to zero to me, no passion, criticism or any imagery which hits home.

 

How about the Fiio E6 "amplifier for the masses" yeah, if they want to ruin their sound quality, lol, maybe I just got a chip on my shoulder about the E6, and the Yulong U100 which sucked and I decided to return.

 

I think Headfonia stems from an Indonesian forum called audiophile-id.  In that spirit, I'm sure a collective effort could turn journalistic writings by Tomscy, Ardgedee and Romy into a seperate website or blog. 

 

It could be called otononikki.com.
