Whoa, never mind I just went on the ALO site and the product page is already up. Sweeett, it can now hook up to both your computer and your iDevice. That was the main issue I had with the old Solo. So far the upgrade is looking good. Price, it's going to be a whopping 699 bones for whoever is willing to take the hit.

It's $700, and I'm not sure how many people are going to benefit from the balanced, given the relatively sparse availability of portable balanced amps. I'm going to want to audition it first and expect some pretty profound improvements before I budget for it.

Agreed, I would hope there were some sonic improvements and not just some added hookups. Lets see what people will say once the new impression thread goes up

Hopefully "balanced" actually means balanced, as in there are parallel stereo preamp circuits inside, rather than just a single-ended circuit fed through a phase-splitter to the balanced output.

Handwaving for a moment whether balanced provides meaningful benefits, for the price markup I expect a corresponding increase in technical complexity.

This all seems like exciting news. Audio Technica is a company I respect deeply, even though their house sound isn't always my thing. I feel very lucky to have owned the AD2000 for a bit; that was a gorgeous headphone. (Eventually traded it for some cash + EX1000's).

 

I'm endlessly intrigued by the CK100Pro and CKM1000. One day I have to listen!

I don't know if everyone has read this yet but HeadphoneAddict posted some very interesting and detailed findings concerning the Woo amps/CLAS/M-100/Ray Samuels amp/HifiMan/and the Centrance HifiMate M8 amongst many other stuff.

 

The Woo WA7 amps and HiFiMate M8 are sounding like real winners as well as the M-100. The 1964 6 driver CIEM didn't seem to get a lot of praise though. Here's hoping Larry gets around to posting some impressions concerning the new TH-600.

Yeah, I'm standing here looking around for who I need to hand money to, to get my hands on a set of TH600s. I like my Woo stuff, but aesthetically the WA7 isn't doing anything for me.

The M100 sounds more and more like something I should own, but then with nothing that I'm familiar with are being compared to, I'm still not sure at buying it blind (or deaf rather). So far I've had my luck at buying my headphones deaf (with appropriate research of course) but I worry that my luck will soon run out. My uncertainty with the M100 is how bassy is it.

I was looking for some updated photos of the Jecklin Float QA. This thing just keeps getting more and more amusing:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Check out the new headband design. All it needs is a little flashlight attached to the front of it.

 

Can't wait for mine to be ready! Which should be in the coming weeks...

I'm sure the sound is great, but could there be a clumsier design? I don't think so.
