Well, maybe. But if I don't set my sights on a particular present goal, I forget my enthusiasm for audio gear! And I just couldn't let that happen

Any recommendations for metal band(s) that are more guitar noodling and less agry screams? I listened to an AMA podcast which happens to talk about the answering person's favorite swedish metal band. Something something later about melodic death metalband i kind of like it (his favorite was Dark Tranquility ). Seems like something i would listen to frequently.
You can start off with In Flames' Come Clarity album.

Thanks for the good album recommendation. I find that most of the songs start of explosively awesome (which I like), sprinkled with awesome guitar riffs (this too), and end up being a bit meh. The last track seems to be a bit weird considering almost all songs prior starts of with a wall of guitar awesomeness. Now that I have listened to this whole album on Youtube (not the best I know) I have now realised why the death growl seems to fit much better with the aggressiveness. I still don't like this aspect much, but I can appreciate it being there as like a compliment of the amazing instrumental works (inb4 I got skinned alive by those that think otherwise).
This would be on my wishlist then.
Also, I seem to understand what the podcaster meant as 'whiny vocals'. LOL it does seem very whiny for most of the clean vocals. Still I prefer less vocals and more vocalless sections.

Off the top of my head, Nightwish, Leave's Eyes, Dream Theater, Kamelot, Communic, Concerto Moon, Krypteria, Dragonforce, Iron Savior, Vision Divine, and Sonata Arctica are prog/power/symphonic/there-are/entirely-too-many-sub-genres bands I like which don't have harsh vocals.
Maybe a little too much angry screaming but Scar Symmetry, Children of Bodom, Soilwork (their older albums), Kalmah, and Arch Enemy are more melodic death metal bands I like.
If you can proxy to US based server I can link you to some of my Pandora stations and you can see if you hear anything you like.

Also, I have a Pandora station called "Instrumetal" that you'd probably like.

That would need some time to digest. Also about the proxy and Pandora, do I need it constantly while I'm on Pandora or just initial linking?
Checked youtube, one of the Acid Rain video is already liked by me. Memories come flooding back. Awesomeness.

Probably as long as you're listening to it. IDK for sure but I'm just assuming that it won't like a Russian IP address.
It is a pretty big info dump though. If you can figure it out how to get it working Pandora is a good way to find new bands. You can use a song or band as a seed, it plays similar stuff and you can give it a thumbs up or down.
