They're legit.
Though they are still more expensive than what I paid for them locally. The shop I bought them from doesn't carry them anymore, though.
Now they cost €228 shipped. If you want I could buy a pair for you and ship them to you.

The Axel Grell public interview on Gizmodo dropped another noncommittal hint that Sennheiser is working on a new electrostatic. I'd love to think that his non-dismissal of orthos means Sennheiser is also designing one, but I take it more to mean that Sennheiser won't be interested in them until they're satisfied that good ones can be built without having to be massive.

DIY project of the day:
Repair the plastic slides on the crisper drawers in the refrigerator with epoxy and metal strips ripped out of some hanging folders. I managed to slice open both of my thumbs trying to clean the glue off the metal strips.

They're sharper than they look..
Such an exciting life I lead...
Hey, be careful out there with your refrigerator! We don't want to know of any severe fridge accidents...

Well it was a rather silly incident if you ask me. Val posted that the M-100's were ready for shipping and all product checks had gone well. As an added bonus and thank you for all the feedback the community had given him he was going to include a free boom mic along with the other extras he was already throwing in, as well as a handwritten thank you letter. Because he decided to throw in a free boom mic and none were in stock shipping would be delayed a few more days until the free boom mic's arrived. One guy didn't like the idea of waiting any longer and threw a temper tantrum. The other users berated him for being immature and one user posted maybe the thread should be locked for a short while so people could calm down and avoid any more temper tantrums. Currawong being Currawong and always at his watch was more then happy to oblige and last time I checked the person who threw a hissy fit wasn't posting anymore on the thread. After all the negativity I've seen on that thread from people who don't know what the meaning of the words "it will ship when it's ready to ship" means I doubt Val Kolton and others who display their wares on Head-Fi will be letting the community participate in a product launch like V-MODA did. I give Val Kolton credit and have to admit the guy has thick skin. If I had been in his position I would have walked away and washed my hands of the whole affair. That's the first time I've ever seen someone blow up and badmouth a company and it's CEO over the news they were getting an extra free accessory on top of other free accessories.
UPDATE:
I just checked the thread and as of a few hours ago the first shipping confirmations have started to show up in peoples emails. Looks like it's only a few more weeks before the forums begin to be flooded by the V-MODA Praetorian Guards and their first M-100 impressions

Check it out ladies and gentlemen, the UI isn't the greatest but in my opinion it sounds real nice. If HiSound faces the UI shortcomings of this DAP head on and finds the fixes it needs the Studio V could be a real winner. I was really scared this new player was going to be a dud but it's really worked out nicely for me. It feels rather nice to be able to walk around without a brick in my pocket and still be able to enjoy good quality sound from a small sized easily pocketable player. In the sound department this little player easily destroys any unamped iPod Sony DAP or Clip+ I've ever owned. Against my mobile ALO RX MK II rig it ultimately loses out but only by a little. What a nice sounding little player.

Thanks for offering but i just realized that I do not have to pay VAT so that brings it down to 195 euros shipped using the Amazon exchange rate, however If I use a low exchange rate card like 28 degrees then it will be about 180 (hopefully ^^)

Wow throwing a tantrum just because a free gift; which the CEO wants to reward the community with because we're so patient; is going to delay the shipping a bit. What the flying fck. What are we? 8 years old? I mean, WHAT THE FLYING *******ED FCK.
I do hope nobody would do this kind of close relationship again just as a middle-finger gesture to us. Because that reads like hyper-entitlement 9001.
And anybody that disagrees with the Gestalt should be burned using not fire, but acid, because they are heretics.

How horrendous is the UI? I've been very hesitant to check this DAP out because of it. I don't need some UI getting in my way of enjoying music. Could you please compare the size to some other thing? Preferably something common. Thanks a lot.
@shotgumshane, my god, MY EYES. IT BURNS. I won't even quote that, since that would burn my fingertips.

I'll be doing a formal review for this DAP soon. The deal was I get it for a sale price in exchange for an honest review. I've already taken some notes down as far as the UI is concerned and I'll be doing some direct A/Bing in the next few days with my other gear. For me the UI gets the job done for the simple reason I don't bother with the buggy part of it. At the end of next week I'm on holidays so I'll have time then to get some quality time in and pit it directly against the RX MK II amp and form some final impressions on the sound. I'll be touching on the UI and where it works and where is falls on it's face. Once it's up I'll link it for the scrutiny of the diary club. As for the size, it's pretty freaking small. I'll try and throw some pics up of it alongside my RX MK II, UHA 4, and iPod Touch

Oh did I forget to mention digital freak that this unit will continue to improve past 200+ hours of usage ;). My old Studio V continued to refine til around 300 hours :P. I think it may be a good idea to put it through the stresser, you may be surprised how much it improves with usage. I'd love to hear how it compares to your ALO MKII then :P.

Nice.
Tax is always the main issue here. They even increased the tax from 19% to 21% last week. Without tax my IE80's would have been €167, and my HD650 would have been €235 (just a little over $300!)

...but normal for Western Europe.
What are retirement ages like there?
In the Netherlands it'll be 67 in a couple years. Right now it's 65.
They should do the same in France, imo. 62 is just ridiculously low.
