More of my rambling thoughts on this hobby:

Kind of TL;DR.
Hmm. This reminds me of objet petit A that you mentioned once (or twice). In a way, that makes sense; especially this paragraph:
Those do sound outrageous. But now I'd feel bad to share this article from the Daily Mail. :\

Well, my streak of bad luck continues to march on. Today I went to check my PO Box for my new player and found nothing. Surprised I then decided to check the tracking to be greeted with two messages. The first one was processing error delivery delay possible. The second, delivery attempted card left indicating where item can be picked up. Freaked out that the package was mislabeled of delivered to the wrong PO Box I immediately called the post office support line. According to the rather pissed off sounding person on the other end what probably happened was the package was put on the wrong truck doing the wrong route for delivery. The package was then returned and rerouted and was then scanned as delivered once it left the processing station for the second time. Long story short I'll probably have my player tomorrow. The word probably didn't sit well with me. Keeping my fingers crossed Canada Post isn't feeding me a pack of lies to buy time. If it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. Excuse me, I have to wolf down a sandwich before I leave to finish off my shift at work.

@DF: that sucks :/ I hate not knowing where my **** is in the mail continuum.
I haven't read that entire post yet, but this stuck out to me as being similar to my own experiences as of late, giving me a preference for a warmer sound that I know isn't neutral, but bodes better with my hearing and taste in music. Things just sound more cohesive this way. I think there are certain audible cues we get in reality that a completely neutral headphone wouldn't really convey... or something.
In other news, I'm pretty sure I won't be going to RMAF; I've already used up most of my absences this semester and the idea of springing for airfare across the country and a hotel room just to audition some gear I may or may not encounter during the next Chicago meet is seeming less and less attractive. It would be cool to hang out with who's ever going, but not quite that cool for me atm (no offense!). This will probably change in coming years when I'm actually making money again.

I feel ya bro. I had it worse once. I bought some beyer gel pads and a jumbo grado bowl from the HF FS forums. Long story short, I got my stuff almost 1 month late from the ETA. Now I'm very cautious to buy anything from here again. Unsurprisingly, stuff from ebay arrived as expected of the ETA, since they a (?) distribution warehouse(s) in Moscow (or nearby).
