Ummm no, Mr Zellers sounds like the name of the even more evil uncle of Montgomery Burns from The Simpsons. Besides, Zellers is no more it was sold to the people who run Target.

We actually wanted to avoid the use of the word 'audiophile' as it strikes us as having a bit of an elitist tone, but we can't think of a word that more broadly encompasses the proposed society's interests.

The other options we came up with were things like: Hi-Fi Society (HiFiSoc) / Hi-Fi Club etc

The name has to be descriptive so that new uni students can pick the club out of a list of organisations...

Off the top of my head, how about:

- Dead Phonograph's Society

- Bachelor's Beat Club

- The Listening Room

- Audio Academia

- L/R Bliss Society

Thanks for the warning, I'll try to economize on what's still there.

Sony PFRV1 Personal Field Speaker Headphones

Looks crazy!

I've owned them, yeah. Thought they were pretty awful --- though a large part of that was due to the fit which was nearly impossible for me to get just right.

They were invented by the same fellow responsible for the Ocharaku Flat4, interestingly enough.

I've been listening to the MH335DW for a few mornings now, and I'm honestly a little perplexed by them. They have a definite "out of head" type of presentation, only it's one of the most intimate of any headphones or IEM I've experienced at the same time. It's like spirits are draping their ectoplasmic shrouds across your lap, whispering secrets into your ears....

They're also pretty dark and smooth-sounding. The detail is there---plenty of it---but brightness tends to be equated with more apparent resolution for most folks, so as a result the music is very laid back and unobtrusive. You have to sit and really concentrate on what you're listening to, otherwise it's easy to be distracted if you're trying to do something else at the same time. Before you know it the track is over.

They still perform on a pretty top-tier level tho, don't get me wrong. They're actually more refined sounding than the TG! 334 overall, and the actual definition within that somewhat claustrophobic space is extremely (spookily) well defined.

This is going to require a bit of experimentation. Folks in the MH335DW thread have mentioned trying other cables and DAPs to liven up the treble somewhat. Gavin thinks he's found the holy grail in the un-modded AK100, so I'll probably be checking it out at some point.

Also here's yet another K702 variant, the AKG K712:

http://www.akg.com/K712+PRO-827.html?pid=1408

From what I've read, it's pretty much a K702 but w/ "improved low-end performance by 3dB." Which sort of continues AKG's trajectory from the K702 to the Q701 to the K702 65th Anniversary, each one successively more bassy than the last. Kind of obnoxious they have to continually release new variations to approximate addressing flaws little by little. They're going to run out of colors!

That quality about them being unobtrusive sounds like a huge plus. Especially if you are working on something and want good music still yet not so much where you can't focus on the task at hand :).

Night watch :D

Yes apparently they pair well with the AK100...I just hope get a moded AK100 will not kill the pairing if I get these. I am not sure they would do well with the Tera, as it is a player that will not bring details forward but make iems sound more natural...

Perhaps this is insensitive, but I'd be a little worried about ordering something from Hidition at the moment with the North waltzing its way into oblivion....
