Honestly, something tells me that they're all going to wind up good friends in the end.  Music will bring them together.

These 2 problems especially makes this headphone very very source picky and I'm finding myself clicking through 10 songs just to find a song that works well enough to let these cans shine at what they do best.

Billy Bragg's Sexuality is particularly good with it.

As for CIEMs, I didn't check on UE at either meet because sound dialy machine thing + free audiolgist + probable discount = trouble for the wallet.

This, Is. Amazing.

It happens.  smile.gif  Still have my Bellatone Audio gift cert that I won at the L.A. meet.  I can't even consider using it because the items are priced way beyond my budget.

And now, aside from this, one of my friends may have gone missing earlier?  Today's been pretty **** :/

I'm starting to think that you lead a pretty interesting life IRL... which would definitely explain some of your dreams.  Do hope he's okay though.  BTW, you're feeling better right?

eek.gif  Thanks for the tip!

In other news, I made pot stickers last night.  Mmm, so good.  Belly happy.  smile.gif

Okay, now you're confusing me. So here's the above information a little more verbosely, let me know if it helps.

Headphones are neither single-ended nor balanced. Those are the shorthand terms we use for describing how they connect to amps, but they don't mean quite the same things that are meant among active electronics designers (the people making the amps, DACs, etc.)

Every working speaker circuit needs two wires between amp and speaker: one + and one -. Stereo sound requires two circuits: One for the left ear, one for the right ear. Your headphone has two speakers, thus two circuits.

"Single-ended" means that the cable or plug will connect left and right channels through the - line.
"Balanced" means that the left and right channels never touch*: There has to be four wires between amp and headphone, and requires four connection points at the amp.

You can't use your Q701 with a balanced amp because the cable only has three wires in it: The - is common from the amp plug to inside the headphone shell. If you make an adaptor to use with your ALO, you'll bridge the channels, and bad things might happen**. That's it; Short of cracking the headphone open and rewiring it, you will never safely use it with a balanced amp.

If LFF is making you a headphone, you can order it with balanced wiring and this is totally okay.

*("Balanced" actually means that there are two amplification circuits per channel out of phase with each other. Speakers are passive devices reacting to an electrical signal and will react exactly the same way to exactly the same signal regardless of whether the device providing it is single-ended or balanced. "Balanced" headphone wiring only means that your headphones are wired to ensure the - does not get bridged; your average non-balanced-electronics home stereo speaker setup is wired in exactly the same way.)
**(Actually, what will probably happen is the amp will have a protection circuit that shuts it down before damage occurs, but that still means your amp isn't working.)

I didn't go all master class and make my own skins or anything, but the rest was from scratch.  Ground beef, shredded cabbage, green onions, bean sprouts, vermicelli, ginger, salt, and white pepper.  Simple seal w/three crimps.  Nothing terribly fancy, but it did hit the spot.  smile.gif

Nice. Maybe one day I'll have to make some from scratch using your directions ;). Not sure if I'd want to make for the house. All mine! lol :P.

Oh, I totally forgot to mention that I also added collard greens!  eek.gif  I had wanted the light stalks and dark leaves from a good head of bok choy, but I couldn't find any decent bok choy at the white market near me (a.k.a. Pavilions).  So, I went with shredded cabbage and added chopped collard greens.  You're not gonna believe it, but it totally works.  I'd give you measurements and quantities, but I honestly don't remember as I kind of improvised this time.

EDIT:  But the dipping sauce made it killer!  soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, chili oil, finely minced cilantro, and paper-thin slices of serrano peppers.

From what little I've read of his life at the moment, it kind of reminds me of mine in my early 20s.

Large circumstantially related disposable income. Lack of direction. Amphetamines and painkillers. Roommates. Slumming it.

I was a DJ in LA for one summer + fall semester too.

Like a radio personality DJ or a DJ DJ?

EDIT:  Ahh, I see why there might be a negative association with L.A. now.

Oh. My. God. I prided in myself for keeping up with English after 12 years of classes during school years and I messed up WRITE?!

I played Infinite all last night, and I must say this is definitely going to be Game of the Year. Wonderful attention to detail, and the Skyhook system is a blast to use. I wish all game developers put this much thought into their games.

Yep, original 1991 release. It's sounding pretty stunning on the Q701.

@lee
This afternoon I have a mini meet scheduled. I should have the 1plus2 turned over for evaluation then

@warren: Yeah, I'm feeling fine.  Also the aforementioned friend has been idle on aim for a few minutes so I assume he's well.  I just freaked out last night because his mother contacted me asking if I knew where he was.  He usually keeps in touch with her.
