It's still on the delivery truck, but I'd be glad to post a picture of it once it arrives.

I think they've been sold out for months tho... they only made like a few hundred of them I think?

My God this thread exploded!!!!!!

Still haven't caught up!

Anyway, have any of you been victims of credit card fraud?

I just received an alert from Capital One saying that they detected suspicious activity... logged in and indeed there appears a charge that I'm pretty sure I did not make! This sucks! :-(

Happened to me last year, sort of.  Bank stopped my card, called me, and had already sent me a new one, iirc.  Was pretty painless on my side.

Still not quite sure where the leak was, though.

(Not quite true, but my prime suspect was a respectable establishment.)

Well in my experience, at least, underpowered orthos have a gimped dynamic range and sound kind of flat/dull as a result. The bass is also less focussed, but not necessarily overbearing or anything. Thing is, though, that they can still sound rather clean like this and acceptable to people who haven't heard them driven to their fullest. I say this because it's happened to me before.

Mainly what makes me curious about your setup is how you attributed their transparency over the HD600's to the elevated treble response whereas most (myself included) hear them as being more transparent overall. Also, the thing about sounding overly diffuse reminds me of the sound described above.

If not power, it's also possible your setup lacks the level of transparency wherein the differences between the two would be more apparent. Iuno, I mean I get where you're coming from in some regards because the HD600's are more cohesive in the same sense that the ES5's sound more cohesive than a lot of other IEMs, regardless of timbre or detail, but I don't think you're in a position to be using scare quotes like that when you're relatively lacking in experience with different sources, amps, and orthos.

This could very well be the case, but I think my amp powers them well enough. I may not be hearing them at 100%, but my experience in audio so far has taught me that the difference between 90 and 100% is smaller than expected. If anything, I at least have enough to have accurate impressions of their sound.

I never really said that I found the HE-500 more transparent. I just said that it had better perceived clarity due to the extra treble that it has over the HD600, similar to how my DT880 is much more clear than both.

Again, that's possible. I'm not in a position to experiment with all that gear yet. Hopefully I'll soon be at you guys' level.

I'd be worried about it trying to abduct my various yuri / shoujo-ai figurines, but Fate and Nanoha will protect them all for sure.

Tom Servo and Master Shake have nothing on the creepy kids below. I find they make great guards for my gear. People see them masterfully displayed around my gear and they're to creeped out to dare touch anything on my makeshift desk.

I think I had a panic attack just now and it's kind of still going on.

If it was over the pic above sorry about that. When the neighbor comes over and she brings her young daughter I usually close the door to where my stuff is sitting. For whatever reason her daughter gets freaked out by Schitzo the demented clown and throws a crying fit for the next hour or so.

Wow...I usually don't come around these parts and really don't know how I got here...lol...

Sorry I missed the drama and late to the party but just noticed kiteki was banned...I'm guessing old news but still...

Hi MF, great thread..

Cheers!!!

Very cool read, how Shigzeo was able to swing a factory tour of FitEar's facility I'll never know. Not sure whats cooler the article or the pictures of the FitEar titanium Gundam robot.

Apparently my impressions are invalid because my amp isn't providing "enough" power to it.

Yes, that's more than sufficient.

Um, does this mean the package is only insured for like $200, though?  Also, I really wish they hadn't used FedEx because FedEx comes super late around here and the closest pickup location for me is way out in the ******* hood.
You don't have a FedEx office location nearby? I have like 8 of them within 10 miles.
