Honestly, if he's that much of a tight-ass about this then other sellers need to be warned. I have no sympathy when it comes to people over-rating the state of their gear.

I know I've mentioned this story before, but once I purchased a pair of Ultrasone Edition 9s from this collector in Italy. He described them as "like new: 9 out of 10." When I got them, I discovered 9 out of 10 meant their metallic logos were flaking off exposing the hideous brown undercoating, the metal finish of the cups was bubbling off, the cable was frayed, and the entire package reeked of cigarette smoke to the point of permanence.

Cigarette smoke smell ticks me off. I've had headphones come in that smelled of sweat too, but I suppose there is no helping that. I dunno if you can ever get the filters off IEMs without the adhesive losing its 'tack' though. The old hifiman filters really are the best and I don't know who else sells something similar besides say, Audeo. (I have no idea if they would fit but I am going to see if they do from my friends pair).

I sent him a message anyway.

Nah its okay. Not worth the time to post them heh. Thank you for the offer though :) I'll probably end up getting the hifiman filters.

Is it possible to leave neutral feedback?  That might be a way to grudgingly put the whole mess behind you.

I dunno. The Momentum is leather, probably with some kind of foam inside, and some fabric material on the inside of the earcups. The MDR-1R's are just pleather, with a stiffer foam inside. The MDR-1R's have bigger earcups but are less breathable. The Momentum's are likely to sit on your ears rather than in, but they are more breathable. I personally prefer the comfort of the Momentums.

Hmm, okay.  It seems like the 1R probably uses regular foam then.  And since you mention that the Momentum is more comfortable despite using leather, I'm inclined to believe that it's using memory foam.  Thanks for checking.  I ask because - even though I'm supposed to be wearing my glasses - I usually don't.  But it appears that I will need to soon as the world is a bit hazier these days.

Well, we can't always assume it's going to be a bad experience.  I've only done two trades so far, but both were exceedingly positive experiences.  Though, it is worth noting that I only trade with members that I already know (kinda).

Hey yeah, there's an idea.  I could send you mine as well as I'm not terribly thrilled about those Monoprice IEMs either.  Wait, maybe we could all chip for HiFiMAN filters as a belated b-day present or something, we're only like 4 months late.  biggrin.gif

....

The 8320 filters can be used for the Heavens?

Whoops I actually didn't know that, thought the size was different :P

I have 4 extras if anyone wants a pair, love them but can't fit 4 pairs into my ears.

Lol yes this whole thing could become toxic, which I'm not terribly keen on.

Maybe I'm old fashioned, but all I want is an apology. I try to be nice and polite. If I made this mistake I would own up and do something about it. And I *have* made trading mistakes in the past - forgotten to include tips, accessories etc. I just pay for extra postage because its my fault or offer a return because it's my fault.

I should just leave a neg and just stop thinking about it. *bleh*

It's a double-edged sword right?  He/she could also leave you a neg for being completely unreasonable or super picky or whatever.

You know, I once saw a request, somewhere in the forums, asking for a Supremus with a certain amount of positive trader feedback to mediate a trade dispute.  Maybe he would be amenable to that?

Honestly I am not going to go that amount of trouble lol. I'll think about it.

biggrin.gif  Gotcha.

First trade I ever made here, I spent 4 months telling the guy I thought they sounded a bit on the dookie side, and that he really didn't want those cans, and that I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy.  I wrote up inordinately long PMs telling him exactly how poorly I thought of them.  I might even have exaggerated on occasion.  After making him swear an oath that he would not wipe my seed from the Earth, as I had duly warned him, I finally succumbed to his offer.  Even then I felt kinda bad, so I threw in a couple extra Senns.  I even offered him a free tradeback in case he wasn't happy.  Turns out, we were both happy with what we got.  I guess it just goes to show that different folks like different strokes.  Go figure.  smile.gif

Both? Either? Switch between them at whim?

This isn't out of any serious desire or technical need, it's a craving for an old-tech style light show.

Which headphones? For almost all of them, I have one of two recommendations:
1. Build a low-grade impedance adaptor. This can range from strapping a 5W resistor across the + and - terminals, to building a small breakout box.
2. Don't. Unless you've got one of the two genuinely hard-to-drive headphones, there's not a lot to gain by doing it.

Anyone in the diary thread heard the T90? Any opinions? Yay or nay for $400 bucks or so?
