NGHHRHRHRHRHRHRHRHRRRRRRR.

The seller is saying that its unreasonable for him to pay $25 to get a set of replacement filters because only one pairs of filters has there are many pairs in that set. Maybe he has a point. Maybe I should just ask him to pay $1 / $2 towards the package?

That's laughable. The simple thing is that the IEMs are not as described, and it's something that would materially affect the sale price of the IEM - and it's something that he knew about. I should give him negative feedback on that basis alone, but because I am trying to be reasonable I am giving him some kind of opportunity to do something - anything - maybe send me a pair of filters if he doesn't want to spend some $25 - just some evidence of contrition or admission of error because no reasonable person would look at those filters and think that they are okay.

Instead I just get fobbed off because it's my problem now.

I dunno. The Momentum is leather, probably with some kind of foam inside, and some fabric material on the inside of the earcups. The MDR-1R's are just pleather, with a stiffer foam inside. The MDR-1R's have bigger earcups but are less breathable. The Momentum's are likely to sit on your ears rather than in, but they are more breathable. I personally prefer the comfort of the Momentums.

Well be a dissatisfied customer with angry complaints then. This is kind of the reason I never buy used on forum. That does suck though, although I guess $25 isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.

Also does anyone have any cheap suggestions as to how to not have my headphones blow up if I use the a-100 speaker tap in the case of a surge?

I advise that you tell him you are not satisfied as the product was not in the expected state so if he does not agree to your 25 USD proposal, he must make a counter offer. At least participate for half the price of the set.
Or send him someone....I know people.

It'll answer almost every single question you have about it. Everything. If you're serious about this, you should probably read it.

The counter offer was tell me to harvest a pair of filters from an old or cheap pair of my own IEMs. Because I should a) do that because these adhesive backed IEM filters are possible to remove and reapply non-destructively b) Wreck an old pair of IEMs for his error.

What about those $7 Monoprice IEMs? Perhaps he would consider paying for a set so you could harvest their filters. Let him know this is his last chance, and if he refuses you will give him negative feedback.

Honestly, if he's that much of a tight-ass about this then other sellers need to be warned. I have no sympathy when it comes to people over-rating the state of their gear.

I know I've mentioned this story before, but once I purchased a pair of Ultrasone Edition 9s from this collector in Italy. He described them as "like new: 9 out of 10." When I got them, I discovered 9 out of 10 meant their metallic logos were flaking off exposing the hideous brown undercoating, the metal finish of the cups was bubbling off, the cable was frayed, and the entire package reeked of cigarette smoke to the point of permanence.

I'm not letting it go, but rather using it in another rig. Right now my DAC is the weak link in my main bedroom setup: it's good, but it's not exactly on the level of my other gear.

Oh those have filters? I have a pair I got to see what the hype was about. I don't know how much postage from the us to aussy is but it shouldn't be too much if I just threw them into an envelope. If the seller still sucks I can send mine to you, I abhor them, and never use them.

Maybe you answered that 1000 times, but how many different types of setup do you have (without telling me the content) ? Do you have a full portable setup ?
