Okay, I was being a little mean there.  I take it back.

Bah you found me out. Yes I'm a judgmental cod.

He doesn't mind he suckered you into the impractical HE5-LEs now didn't he?

Why must the Japanese haunt me so ~~

Goot luck trying to convince FitEar to sell to you. If you're not a resident in Japan or some big honkie businessman who happens to do business in Japan on a regular basis you're not getting a C435. Last time I checked Jaben was providing a path to FitEar customs but that avenue was supposedly closing down soon.

It was a new Head Fi'er. Everything else looks okay, though there was an issue where he said he requested registered post but it was clearly sent as a regular parcel. It's still a possibility that this was the factory condition of the earphone when he bougt it in December but who knows...

I'll give the guy a chance to answer before I start throwing around some negative feedback. I think what the guy could do is pay for replacement filters, which I'd just order from Hifiman / Head Direct as the nozzle size is still the same. Gives me a chance to order the RE-400 in the same package actually.

Actually, I didn't get it from HiFiMAN.  I got my HE-5LE in a trade.  A brand new pair of Yamaha Pro 500 that I purchased, in exchange for a DT880, Grado something-or-other, and an HE-5LE in need of repair.

You know what totally sells that joke?  Jude's expression at the end.  Without that, meh.

According to IMDB Chunk became a very successful Beverly Hills attorney that represents actors. So - I would say he definitely got over any self-esteem issues he might have had!

Jaben Hong Kong is in the cards next month, maybe :P

I do visit Japan every year/summer or so, probably could make it happen. Not sure if I can wait another year though.

I'm REALLY stuck on FitEar this month. After the glory that was the TG334! I'm even mulling over getting the F111s. All the other customs apart from maybe Spinal Ear or Hidition just doesn't seem to intrigue me as much. And everyone knows high price for overseas esoterica + mystery = good audio.

Business is business.

It was a new Head Fi'er.

There's a four-letter word for that.  wink.gif

Man, The XX self titled is crazy on the Flat-4s. The sub bass performance is nutso :O

Also WTF at a_recording's Heaven C, reminds me of when I bought a RH-1 HiMD recorder off of a guy on Audio T-Station back in the day. He claimed it was in mint condition but it was anything but :l

I am tiffed, but I'm not going to neg the guy immediately if he is forthright about fixing the problem. Everything else about the IEM's was as described so it's not as if I got an empty box. New filters aren't a big deal to order, its just unanticipated expense and trouble. Maybe he never knew? Maybe he had some unusually long ear hair that poked right through the filter?

If it turns out that this guy thought "hmm I wonder how fiddling with these filters changes the sound OOPS I broked them. Better sell these and then disappear." then I will be angry.

Well you're closer then i could ever get. If you happen to have family or close friends in Japan then it's easy to bypass FitEars silly rules. Just use their address and have them forward your CIEM's once they're done. Heck I'd be half inclined to throw you a 50 spot and a box of my impressions if I knew FitEar would accept them. Supposedly they're also pretty touchy concerning who does the impressions.

Concerning all the Mad Dog talk going on, maybe when I finally receive my Paradox I'll be impressed enough I'll pan the HE-500/HD800/HD650 and kick back and call it a decade headphone wise. By the way people where should I start looking CIEM wise, UERM or UM Miracle?
I can talk for the Miracles, great CIEMs and awesome service if you straight through Stephen at UM. It depends what you are looking for. To me selling points on the Miracles are crazy space and airiness, wildly textured and detailed bass, and also the fact that it is not source picky but scales up very well with nice amping. With the Tralucent silver gold cable it is the most musical iem I have heard. However if you like really fun sounding, with warm lush mids the Miracles are not for you...they are more on the effortless elegant side...

LOL, well filters don't do that to themselves right?  So I'm pretty sure the first part of that story is true.  Crossing my fingers here that the second part ins't.  redface.gif

So it's like the Q701 of IEMs then...

On a happy note I just bought a 135mm Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm f35 lens for $60. A quick eBay search pulls these things up for $249.

It was from a nice old man and I'm not sure if he knew the value of the lens; he put the lens up on an online classified (similar to craigslist) and a quick eBay search would have confirmed the value.

It all seems to work but since I don't have the adapters for it I can't confirm it.

What's really awesome is that the thing is built like a tank and has a DDR designation on it to indicate the country of origin: Deutsche Demokratische Republik

I feel like this is the beginning of a dangerous spin off hobby but if all these vintage lenses are so cheap it can't hurt right?
