Funny coincidence, as I remember you had the Heaven A at some point and I just got my A and C back after a long loan tour. Though I don't hear them quite as close to the FI-BA-SS as Rin's graph suggests, they're still among the best IEMs I know for analytical listening.

Be sure to try Rin's "33 ohms + cleaning cloth" mod (on second thought #6), which has a pronounced effect on their overall tonality. Looking forward to your thoughts... smile_phones.gif

How do you do the "cleaning cloth" mod? Maybe I'm dense but I think Rin does a poor job explaining his mods. I still don't know what "agar" to apply to my monoprice 9927. Why not just tell us what you used, how much, etc in detail?

That's strange. Did I double posted across two pages?
Also a bit off topic, but my dad pointed out to check if my current university has any partners anywhere, and in fact they do. This makes it hopefully easier for me to continue from this Russian undergraduate program, rather than ask around other places that may or may not accept my certificate. This actually lifted quite a few weight I lately felt in myself. Funnily enough both of us (me and my dad) didn't even thought to check this at all until the past hour. tongue.gif

Now my future is just a tad brighter now.

As much as I enjoy some K-Pop, J-Pop, etc. there's usually things like this:

and I don't know whether I find it creepy, scary or exciting...

I do have to say though that I feel like a pedophile recorded this! (always things coming out or in her mouth or behind... WTF?!?!)

I know they are trying to be cute or whatnot but... I just don't get why they have to "spin" it... maybe it's their culture... and one of the reasons I don't like most of the anime out there... in some level it makes me feel, dare I say it, dirty...

From what I understand of the industry now (not that I delve too much into it, mind you) there seems to be a fixation to immortalizing youth and innocence. I don't know how that video is immortalizing both of that though. Maybe it's a culture thing. *shrug*

Cut my finger on just above the last joint at the end of my middle finger (lol). The right half of the keyboard suddenly types very unoptimally.

Like many artists, Rin is better in doing his thing than explaining it. wink.gif

Alright, here's what I know: when I got my SS loaner back, I noticed a blue and a white piece of cloth between the tips and the nozzle. I PMed Rin and he told me that "Blue is equivalent to a HiFiMAN filter, whereas white is a simple cloth". When I quoted from his own analysis "A simple dust filter, such as HiFiMAN's stock filter, does not change the sound of FI-BA-SS" and said that I was still unsure about the blue cloth's significance, he explained that its acoustic effect was minor and he just used it for fine tuning.

So I tried to repeat his mod with my Heaven C, and after trying different kinds of cloth I settled for a small piece of disinfection wipe, which seemed to have a similar effect to Rin's cloth. Obviously my hearing is far too inaccurate to do any kind of fine tuning like he can do with his equipment, so this is a rough estimate at best. But I'd think that the greater part of the signature change is due to the 33 ohms resistor anyway and the cloth has only a lesser effect on the highs.

S.Korean culture seems to be even more addicted to health, youth and external beauty than the west.

What holds the cloth in place? The silicone tip?

Yep, it's just tucked between the tip and the nozzle.

I just got home from a head-fi meet and I had a great freaking time. I got to finally listen to a HD650, HD 800, HE-500, an a vintage STAX Lamnbda bias all being driven on NuForce and Schitt gear. I'll upload some pictures later. I was shocked how nice the HD800 sounded and I now wonder where the comments of the HD800 sounding overly analytical ever came from. The Hifiman HE-500 I really loved especially when it was being driven with a balanced connector from the NuForce stuff. I was also very impressed with the HD650 and think it was driven quite well from my Raven/Eva stack. Overall a fun time was had by all.
