The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2 - Page 526

The best fps I've played in a while is Borderlands 2. It's incredibly fun and doesn't get boring. Replayability is great with all the loot/characters available. The DLC is great too.

I was considering what I really want from a DAP and started wanting the Tera player really bad. Any thoughts ? The stealth version is so sexy.

....I guess you could say it's a pain in the ass in more ways than one. *Rimshot*

I've been told I'm weird for eating my eggs with Tabasco or ketchup.

Steak and eggs is such an American staple, a delightfully delicious statement of excess.  While I don't do the Tabasco/ketchup thing myself, I do understand its appeal.  It's the tangyness that's alluring I think.  The one combo I never got is eggs and salsa.  For me, the temperature difference is eww gross.

Same here.  I would think it's like that all over Asia.  Well, except for Vietnam.  I'll bet they reach for the fish sauce first.

Hey, just out of curiosity, what kind of hearing protection do you use?  Howard Leight?  Andd have you ever stared at a pair of Leights for a really long time as you thought about how to mod them into cans?

MSG is so awesome, it even makes itself taste better.  I never understood the sudden backlash against MSG.  I grew up in a predominately Asian American neighborhood.  One day, most of the restaurants around town started putting up "No MSG" signs.  Even my family members would shy away from is all of a sudden.  The whole time I'm thinking to myself "you seemed to have liked it well enough yesterday when I saw you gnawing away at those chicken claws..."

OH GOD YES!  I know it doesn't exist.  But I'm still looking for those level 50 orange handguns with infinite ammo.  Haven't found it yet.

Warren, I use foam ear plugs and wear Silencio muffs on top of them. Cuts even the loudest calibers down to reasonable levels. Prevents me from getting a case of the "flinches".

I liked Borderlands 2 a lot, much more than Crysis 3. I used a trainer to get Level 50 weapons, and they were god-like. Kills bosses with like two shots!

biggrin.gif I'm sure it'll look right nice in either of the three mixes. Speaking of lust - well... it was lurking inside me, so I brought it to the front - I'm actually thinking of selling my ride to fund a Purple BHSE. I best study that Metro Expo Line again...rolleyes.gif

Why is it that every time I tell myself I WILL NOT buy another headphone, I end up buying some weird/non-popular headphone just for kicks?!?!? lol

I'm hoping they're everything I've read and an extra bag of chips for good measure. Seems like everyone on this thread who has heard them seem to love them to pieces so I'm thinking my headphone unheard purchase will be a safe bet and hopefully will keep the upgradeitous in check as far as headphones are concerned. On the other hand I'm already thinking of upgrading my chain with a better amp down the road. Supposedly the SR-71B might be at this Sunday's headphone meet so I'm pretty curious about that baby as well as maybe the HE-500. That headphone for some strange reason has always appealed to me Now if only my Paradox would get finished I'd be one happy head-fier. Seems like everything I really want takes awhile to get delivered to me

Check it out folks, they just came in today and I'm really loving the Avatar OST. What a great collection of moving songs. I can hardly wait to hear these CD's on my 4A. Speaking of which.......

blink.gifconfused.gifconfused_face(1).gifconfused_face.gifmad.gifangry_face.gif

...today at just before 5PM there was an attempted delivery of my CIEM's to the UPS Store I asked them to be delivered to. Unfortunately I couldn't be there because of work annndddddd the delivery was refused by the clerk because she didn't want to pay out funds for the clearing and import fees. When I saw that on my tracking my jaw dropped and I immediately called the UPS 1 800 number to find out why the UPS Store refused delivery. Long story short, a UPS Store isn't owned by UPS it's owned by a private owner who has bought the right to use the name and they can refuse delivery if the courier requires the payment of fees before releasing the package to the store. What got me rather riled up about all this was before all this happened I got a call on Wednesday from UPS to ask if I wanted them to clear the package through customs, which I said yes to. Before hanging up I indicated I had asked the package be delivered to a UPS Store due to the fact UPS didn't have access to the P.O. box I usually use for package deliveries. The guy on the other end said it shouldn't be a problem and hung up.

....................

.........................

............................

........................yeah ok sure

So anyhow I was able to pay the clearance and import fees of 96 bones over the phone using my credit card meaning the courier no longer requires funds to release the package which means the UPS Store clerk can now receive the package and hold it for me until I pick it up. A second attempt at delivery will be made tomorrow probably again at around 5 PM which means I won't be there due to my work hours which means I won't have my 4A's until Wednesday morning. Thanks UPS, if your office people knew what they were doing I would have prepaid the stupid fees and I'd have my CIEM's tomorrow morning. If these new CIEM's don't fit I'm going to have a meltdown.

Since I'm on the subject of my Paradox not being ready yet and 4A's taking forever to be shipped out to me I've been keeping an eye on my AKG Q701 tracking which is incoming from Minnesota. It was mailed out Thursday afternoon and since then it's been lying there in a sort facility and hasn't moved an inch towards the Canadian boarder. What the frick is going on with all this delivery time bad luck of mine lately?

If you were interested, you could listen to mine whenever you visit Hong Kong. Just remember to bring your own SD card(s) with *.WAV files.

That might potentially give you the reason to part with your DX100 since Nirmalanow should be selling one after listening to Tera-Player for several days.

IMHO still not as sexy as Qualia 017 for sure. Actually I would like to pair that with Piano Forte X and listen to TDK XA Pro recorded by a professional broadcasting MD deck.

That's really nice ! I have a similar offer from Gavin at Tralucent who is also crazy about his :) I am going to get it and if it is enough for me, I'll sell the DX100 and just have a USB DAC. I won't get stealth I think because 120 euros extra seems unwarranted.

Maybe not as sexy as the Qualia, but way more robust. Nice attempt at the most expensive portable rig though. My TP + SE5 rig should compete. A fellow headfier says the pairing is unbelievable.

For those of you who remember The Abyss, well, here's the latest updated info:

http://www.abyss-headphones.com/abyss_ab_1266.shtml

*

They're calling it "Model AB-1266." For those of you who may have forgotten, the most distinguishing characteristic of these has to be the price which is 5k USD if you recall. They had another public demonstration, and two things stood out from reports:

First, they are ridiculously difficult to get a good fit with for some folks. If you look at the picture, you'll note both vertical and horizontal adjustment. Which seems like a good idea, and with headphones that beam a lot like the H2+ it may be, but apparently these would not sit well (ie. not lopsided) on some heads. The response of the Abyss guys? Something to the effect of "well, you can't just expect to get a good fit in ten minutes. It'll take a few days to dial in the fit." LOL.

Secondly, the sound was described as pretty good. $5k good? Well, my friend said he'd pay HE-500 money for one ($700-ish). But hey, don't forget you get that lovely stand, a wooden box, very high-end cables, and this...

"All main components permanently laser engraved for traceability and collectability"

Seems like they've decided in advance this is going to be a highly sought-after collectible!

^^ On the home page pic the back grill almost looks like there's TV static going on behind the scenes. Imagine they'd sound similar

I might join you there.  Magick's got me convinced that I'll never be a real man until I hear the TH900.  BTW, the last leg going out to the pier is now under construction.  I actually rode it today as part of my commute.  It was peachy... partly because I had Zooey Deschanel cooing at me via a UE700.

Because, though it's a technicality, "weird/non-popular headphones" don't count.  Incidentally, what'd you get?  smile.gif

Personally, I'm curious as to how far they think they'll get with the Von Dutch like branding.

Despite being a less than attractive pair of cans @ 5k, the cables look a bit stiff/heavy. And would likely be annoying during the summer in hot and humid regions.
