Got my AD900X vs MA900 videos and comparison review up, etc etc yadda yadda:

Now I can get back to the important business of doing things I'm actually supposed to be doing!

@Silent One:  They do, they really do!  That TEAC A-H500 is only going for $150 these days.  It's got nothing in the portability department, but I could just stare at it for hours on end as I listen at home.

@ardgedee:  Hmm, the speaker taps... I'll bet someone out there has a cable for that.  Thanks for the tip!  wink.gif  (kidding, but thanks for the answer!)

There are times when I listen to music to study/analyze gears and recordings. And times when I simply want enjoyment, to be moved and fulfilled. At this time, the music can either be in focus or background. But if my toes aren't tapping...mad.gif. So, far all the technical prowess the '800' showed, I felt it was rather nice and all. But, I wasn't moved either. If I could spend a month or two with the '800' I might shift my opinion. Same with the '650,' I hear its potential. But, as they say in Texas, "Potential mean you ain't done it yet!"

Ahh, for me they didn't sing, but I do get your point.  I guess for me, the HD 650 is like a highly-acclaimed foreign film.  I'm sure it's very, very good as everyone says... but it's just not resonating with me atm.

The HD 800 definitely appealed to me in a Peter Jackson kind of way, and it's the speed and scope is damn intoxicating.  But there are times when it seems a little too impersonal if that makes any sense.  Still on my wishlist of course, but not at the very top as you can see.

Having been guilty of breaks (some rather extended) on more than one occasion, I can certainly understand that.  Still, glad to see you back!

Is this Tomscys blog? A very nice blog, Tomscy! Good job smile.gif

+10, beautifully done!

On a side note, I just read your Dunu Tai Chi review and found it very enlightening.  I'll soon be trying it out myself (along with the DN-16, DN-22M, and DN-23), so I it caught my eye whilst I was wandering around.  Do you have any plans to check out any more Dunu units?

Okay, we need to get you to California.  I think you'll be rather amused at our understanding of winter.

Hey MF/whoever else is interest, I just saw this one facebook give it a read and then take away a reaction and then read my spoiler if you don't mind.

http://takimag.com/article/tackling_asian_privilege_gavin_mcinnes/print#axzz2MhkOm7Of

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Apparently this is supposed to be a satire, but its so poorly done that I didn't really figure it out until I read through a few of the comments and I don't think it displays its point very well at all... it was probably one of the most lolwtf things I've read in a while. I did chuckle at the part about pacific islanders being like a mix of black and mexican because the person that I saw that posted this was actually an ex that was a pacific islander, but that was more cynicism and hateful feelings on my part. So I guess the round-about point is that before knowing it was intended to be a satire could you tell that it was supposed to be a satire?

LOL!  biggrin.gif  Wait!  blink.gif  You know I'd NEVER do that right?  redface.gif ... biggrin.gif

It's not foreign cinema in general.  Its just that certain films leave me kinda lost.  For example, I recently saw a documentary called Whore's Glory about prostitution.  There's like no narration whatsoever, as they were trying to paint a visceral picture of what their lives are like.  But honestly, it seems like they had no point whatsover, and waffled quite a bit.  "Hey look, it's pretty bad.  Well, actually it's not that bad.  Oooh, now look at that!  Okay, it's bad.  But it's both better and worse than you thought.  Now how do you feel having learned almost nothing new?  Feel better?  No, you feel bad.  But not THAT bad..."  WTF?

That sounds like the film "The World" (which I found intensely difficult to watch because it was so committed to being naturalistic).

Slight hiccup on the GS-X in red.. the screws are screwing things up. Noticed in the Pico picture Justin has black screws with the red anodizing so I asked him about matching screws. Said he could bring in some to see if they matched, so I told him I'd risk a tiny sum on the match. Hope it turns out well, otherwise I might just go black after all.

Don't think the black screws will be good enough for the GS-X since there are quite a few more on it's fascia than the Pico.

I haven't seen "The World", but yes I can understand what you mean.  It's like talking to people reputed to be quite interesting, but they just can't get to the point - any point - not even to save their lives.

Is anyone else excited about the SGS4 announcement on the 14th?  I'm starting to get excited about the prospect of having it support USB digital out without hassle.  Plus, it looks pretty slick.  And it's got eight cores!  You know what kind of power that is?  I can talk and chew gum at the same time!  If it winds up being everything I hope it will be, it pretty much determines the course that my new portable rig will take:  SGS4 + DAC/amp.

YES! Been excited since the day they announced it. Can't wait to upgrade from my S2.

All these MuppetFace avatars are starting to make me dizzy. I think it's MF commenting only to realize it's Warren or Silent One. For a minute I thought MuppetFace was having an online conversation with herself cool.gif

On another note looks like my 4A's have been accepted by UPS and will soon start their journey to the Great White North. The weird thing, according to UPS tracking they're slated to be delivered on the 8th. I've ordered enough stuff from Asia to highly doubt they will be in my city in 3 days time.

On a completely different front my Q cans will be shipped on Thursday and should be gracing my head in a couple of weeks. The seller indicated he couldn't get to the post office until then which to me is no biggie. In the meantime I'm thinking it might be the right time to finally get my feet wet with a top tier mobile amp with the grunt to drive them. Considering I'll also have the Paradox coming in sometime soon I'm finding I'm fast approaching the dire need for an amp with some grunt behind it. The problem, I can't make up my mind which direction to go. On the short list, Continental V3, RX MKIII-b, Ray Samuels Intruder and the Portaphile 627x. Which way I should go I have no freaking clue. Everything I've researched about these amps have yielded some solid strengths I need for the Q can and the Paradox but none seem to completely tick off all the boxes to make it an easy decision for me.

@a_recording

I showed my girlfriend your videos and she liked them a lot. As we were watching her 19 year old daughter happened to walk by and stopped to watch. Her reaction " mom whose that super cute guy with the gorgeous hair?" Do you get that reaction a lot with girls lol?
