Anyone have any experience with he KNS8400 or other (hopefully closed) cans around $100? I'm looking for a full-size that I can use for home use and the occasional commute.

Oh man, nice score. Congratulations and I look forward to hearing your impressions and seeing some pics. Guess I'll have to keep my nose to the grind stone and ear on the floor to find a decent deal on a HD650. With my luck it will take forever.

In other news, I bumped my listings today and the next person who messages me with a dumb offer is going to get himself thrown on my special persons list and see my dark side come flying out at them through their screen. I'm really getting tired of thrift store shoppers bothering me when my listing says Final Price Drop. If someone doesn't like my price well thats cool move along and don't waste your time messaging me expressing their feelings concerning how they think my pricing is to high. It gets even more annoying when I check the messaging persons profile and see FS listings with used gear priced high enough you could buy it new on most sites.

(sorry about ranting)

Does anyone on here have problems with part of the print on their screen going all wonky when they're reading or trying to post. I noticed this happening on my end roughly 3 days ago and seems to happen on different areas of the screen. If I scroll the screen up and down it goes away though so I'm at a loss whats going on. I don't think it's my windows or my screen because when I'm reading something on an ebook or looking through iTunes or using a program I've yet to notice it happen. Maybe my browser is wonky?

The KNS8400 has sweet mids, extended highs and deep bass. However it has a lack of midbass..... and the cable is stiff and way too long.

eek.gif  Now you tell me!  Not quite enough to dissuade me, but I can definitely feel a bit of irritation building up, and I don't even have it yet.  Still, I tend to be pretty careful with my gear, so maybe it won't be that bad.

Oh, I see what you're saying. I just sort of assumed the impressions would come later. You could always say "a trip to the audiologist" was included in the package / surprise. Similarly with rings, you could always take her to pick it out herself as part of the present. Just depends on how you play it 's all.

Hmm, I guess it all depends on whether it should be a surprise or not.  Being all traditional, I kind of prefer the former, hence my line-of-thought.

Shhh!  No need to scare away all the new visitors from the TMAC and Anime threads now... wink.gif

Oh that place, yeah the guy who runs that channel on YT I'm keeping both my eyes on.  Supposedly he's going to be throwing up something new later on today. I'd keep an eye posted to see what the crazy freak is up to next.

Whoa, this guy is a complete insane freak. Ghetto-fi at it's absolute best ladies and gentlemen:

Yeah, THAT DUDE!  smile.gif

Yay!  I just got mine burned-in not too long ago.  I'd tell you how it sounds, but I don't think I have what it taked to drive it to it;s full potential right now.  My O2 - even on high gain - is just barely cutting it in terms of levels.

And on the HD650, sadly no.  There were some crazy deals during the holidays, but those are long gone now.  However, if you're looking for some other Senns, this might interest you:  http://www.redtag.com/promo/sennheiser/

Yeah, it does.  And it's been on my wishlist as well.  Looks like I've got a decision to make.

@warrenpchi - The cable on the Flat4 does look rather thick so hopefully that help in terms of longevity (unlike the AKG3003 :( ).

I'm thinking of going the Ray Sanuels route if Eva and Itoru don't have what it takes to drive the Q can to it's full potential and see what all the fuss is about concerning the Intruder amp. On the other hand the SR-71B is supposed to drive the HE-6 with authority and isn't overly bright and has been described as dark which could possibly be a better pairing for the Q considering it's an analytical. Third plan, the RX MKIII -b due to its 30% bass boost and supposedly it's pretty powerful too although from what I remember it doesn't have the grunt like the Ray Samuels amps. If you were in my position which one would you go for?

Yeah I remember that 340 USD deal on the deals thread back around the holidays. I messaged a couple of senior head-fiers who were on thread asking if they would be willing to order one for me and send it my way into Canada. One guy said he couldn't because his card due to the holiday season was almost maxed out, which is understandable, and the other never bothered to message me back. My bad luck, oh well, I shouldn't complain considering I did score a 40% sale on the Heair 4A

Hopefully.  Maybe they thought ahead and have a well thought out internal anchoring system, thus negating the need for a superfluous strain relief?  I'll stay optimistic for now.  smile.gif

Honestly, I wouldn't be able to say with authority as I have very little (i.e. no) experience with Samuels stuff.  I'm at a slight crossroads myself concerning my future portable rig.  If I continue using my Rockboxed Sansa E250, I'm actually thinking about a Portaphile 627 as an amp...especially if I can get press accommodation pricing on it.  Otherwise, I might end up going with a SGS III phone and going with a Matrix Mini-Portable route (though what I really want is the new ALO International).

I might have been able to do it back then.  I had gotten a Yamaha Pro 500 and sent it Beagle's way, but I believe I had some room left for an HD650.

Sure, If you consider a knot tied on the other end of the housing "well thought out" lol

Shigzeo seems to be unphased by their (lack of) build quality, while others seem to feel otherwise. I wish they'd done a more substantial job given the price but eh, what can you do

I

Yeah I'm not sure which route to go either. The International might be a good route to go though. I started a thread about it awhile back but not many people seemed interested and I really don't know much about it. Another option would be the Continental with lots of power smooth tubey sound supposed rich detailed mids and the V3 is supposed to be bassier then its past forerunners.

I was actually thinking of asking you but I didn't know you that well yet and I felt it would have been pretentious to ask you so I didn't
