The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2 - Page 459

What do I have to do to become rich and not have to put up with people trying to command me around like a modern day wage slave? I used to drive awhile back for this one outfit as a delivery driver. Tonight I got a call from them asking me to report to their offices at 5 AM. They said they were short drivers so they needed me for a 6 hour day long series of deliveries. I told them thanks but I was working tomorrow at my regular job and wouldn't be free for the day. They answered we really need you right now. If you say no we may not call you back due to you being undependable. I answer, I haven't delivered for you in over a year and when I did I was a casual employee and it was always either a part time shift on my day off or a on the spot quick 1 hour jaunt across town. You seriously expect me to cancel my shift with my full time employer who pays me more to do a part shift for you at less pay. Their answer, we pay what we consider is a fair wage if you don't like it you're welcome to try and find something better elsewhere. You're just delivering packages not performing brain surgery. My answer, I already did a long time ago. Now #$%& off and don't call me again at this late hour pulling pressure tactics because you're to cheap to pay someone enough to be dependable. If it's that important stop being so lazy and load the dumb parcels into the van and deliver them yourself. Considering it's not brain surgery it should be an easy day for someone of your calibre. If you haven't figured it out yet the little pay I received from you I considered a little extra gravy on the side not a necessity that was do or die. You should really work on showing a little more class the next time you address someone. I then hung the phone up and decided to rant on here. I think the guy on the other end is still speechless I told him off.

Move to Newfoundland, they're not rude or mean. They're just amusing due to the cuurrazzy Newfy accent. Oh yeah, they're also great to have over if you want to throw rager of a wild drinking party. Maritime folk are great party people

Those newfies...

I really like the dialect though. Lots of funnies like Mercer and Majumder came from there.

I'm listening to my HE-500's with velour pads on the ECBA and, damn, it's a pretty good pairing.  This is actually my first time trying it.  I can't say I feel much need to put more power behind them, as I do with the LCD-3's sometimes.

Also, it's making me more aware of the midrange suckout the TH900's have, but the TH900's mids still seem more detailed to me regardless.  I'd call the Hifiman mids more engaging, though.

What's your price range, exactly?

The thing to keep in mind with turntables is that you have to factor in other costs. Just as important as the table itself, if not moreso in my opinion, is the phono cartridge and tonearm. Some turntables will sell this altogether as a package, but make sure what you're getting is actually decent. IMO it's not unreasonable to spend just as much on the arm and cart as on the table itself.

You'll also need a phono stage or preamp with phono input (most have line input only).

A good place to start is Rega. I'm sure you'll find some audiophiles who thumb their nose at them for one reason or another (too much vibration, bad customer support, blah blah blah), but Rega is one of the best bets if you don't know what you're doing, because they're extremely easy to set up and operate. They aren't too fiddly overall.

I'd also look into something like the SOTA Satellite or Comet. You'd probably get more for your money with them.

If you want to spend a bit more, there's the VPI Traveler that just came out not too long ago too. There's also the SE Michell Techno Dec and Clear Audio Concept which get rave reviews.

The last time I was there, I walked into the middle of a throw down between HiFiGuy and another dude that was REALLY unhappy.

Speaking of the 1p2, apparently Rhapsodio makes something similar called the RDB+ (http://rhapsodio-cmw.com/?p=1481)

Yes there is a dedicated thread...and people are very enthusiastic about them...but I have strong doubts...the former partner of Tralucent suddenly has exactly the same IEM...smells fishy in terms of IP / ethics.
