Ahhh, for this very reason, MOT 2359glenn made me custom adapters. I have a voltage doubler and voltage quadrupler that allows me to run 12v & 25v glass in the 6SN7 slot. wink.gif waaaay cheeper!

You, drez, are kind. But, you should see how generous friends and associates are with me. So much so, I get suspicioustongue_smile.gif sometimes!

I've come to realize just how spoiled I am from using the UHA-6S. Such a great little amp.

Thought about the Triad L3... but that thing is huge. Makes the O2 look like an ultra-light. I'm looking for something a little smaller in a portable. The Just Audio still seems neat to me, but I'm seeing too many reports of channel imbalance at lower volumes. The Tralucent T1 has too much gain for my needs based on what I've read, so I'd only consider it if they could lower said gain.

The Glacier is awkward to use---even downright annoying in some respects---but the SQ is very good. I'm really hoping the replacement will have no hiss. If that solves the problem, then I'll be keeping it. Assuming it doesn't however, then I'll either go for the Pico Slim, Portaphile 627, or RSA Intruder. The good thing about the Intruder is that it has a DAC, so I can use it with my notebook without resorting to a CLAS -dB purchase.

I should just wait until I find out more about the BAB-1.

Doesn't the Pico Slim have noise issues too?

I'm listening to my HE-500's with velour pads on the ECBA and, damn, it's a pretty good pairing.  This is actually my first time trying it.  I can't say I feel much need to put more power behind them, as I do with the LCD-3's sometimes.

Also, it's making me more aware of the midrange suckout the TH900's have, but the TH900's mids still seem more detailed to me regardless.  I'd call the Hifiman mids more engaging, though.

The CD selection was pretty abysmal this time, but I did manage to find some surprises. The best pick up was one I had no idea what it would be. It had no english on it, and no instruments pictured, but I got a good vibe from it and the disc itself was spotless. $1 for this jazzy/pop album Ceu/Vagarosa:

I'm usually on top of whats coming out in portables but you stumped me with the BAB-1. I take it we have a new portable being released soon? By the way, a Triad L3 in my opinion is a portable in name only. It's supposed to sound really good though and even better when you add an external power source. Lee's been playing around with one so he would be the guy to talk to about that. Personally I'm eyeing the upgraded Portaphile 627 but the international shipping cost of 50 USD really puts me off. I'm also very very interested in the Intruder due to AnakChans findings and others on here who seem to think that amp/DAC can't do no wrong.

Hey guys, I wanted to fund that Orbit Turntable thing someone here linked awhile back, but it ended awhile ago.  Are there any other great bang-for-buck turntables I should be looking at?  I think I have 20 or so LPs I guess I'd like to listen to, but plan on expanding that collection fairly soon.
