Dunno, looked at as a dancing/performance showcase but the dancing wasn't even that good. Not to mention the jarring oufits - everything was just really jarring. But probably being too negative about this.

Express 999 and XYZ are my new fave non-lead single soshi songs though. Just that the title song is one big flop.

I know making fun of DBZ is old hat, but the ending to this makes me LOL hard every time...

Yeah the title is a massive flop (well not massive just disappointing considering it was 2 years since they cameback) :( my favorite in the Album would be Express 999 and Romantic St

The (slightly annoying) kazoos take the cake for me...

So, my iPod died on me a few weeks ago, and I don't know what to get to replace it. I'm thinking about an iPad mini because it's fairly useful for my needs (medical apps, etc.) but I don't want to be carrying a tablet around on the subway...

Happy Birthday, Edward Gorey. Seems kind of odd to wish dead people happy birthday, but in this case it's fitting I think.

What, no Altmann Tera pOsh FUR-THER?

Carrying a tablet around does have the distinct disadvantage of making you look like a prat in most cases. On the other hand, if you hold it like a clipboard and nod thoughtfully, you can appear to be doing important research, which is kind of cool.

The iPad mini is small though, so that at least should make you look less like a prat IMO. Besides, I think the iPad mini is the best iPad so far sound wise (good DAC/amp and trololololol 2 speakers)

I've always regarded the Note as an odd tweener; too big to be a cellphone, too small to be a proper tablet...

That was my second choice.

Actually, tablets are pretty ubiquitous on the Taipei subway. I've seen kids, adults, and seniors use them anywhere and everywhere. I guess I'm just self-conscious.

I think I'd look like a prat, though, if I plug my CIEMs into it, even if I nod thoughtfully. The mini is indeed the right size for what I need, though.

I'm sorry, this entire chain of unfortunate events just brings me great mirth.

The Aus retail price is 399. They are $180 on Amazon JP. I think I know where I will go. Sadly they had AD700X demos but no AD900X demos.

Fanfics are where the fans' imagination runs wilder than before.

Hmm. Direct parallel import. Good price on the AD900X and AD2000x as well, though this AD1000x price really stands out to me.

I'm torn because I want to be able to get the AD900X to compare with the MA900 and I like the single entry cable, but I want to recapture the glory of the AD2000 when I had it for a bit...

My Apex Glacier arrived. I'm crestfallen.

The unit itself is very nice, with a snazzy build. Simply gorgeous in fact. There's a very cool LED that changes color gradually as you turn the volume up.

Usability isn't that great however. I *despise* dial / wheel type volume adjusters, and it also doubles as the power button, so pressing it is a chore. Plus when I "click" it, it slides back a bit into the case. Using the USB port in the back with "push" the contents of the amp forward a little too. That's a little disconcerting, and leads me to suspect the board isn't secured too well.

The worst issue is the hiss I'm hearing with just about any IEMs I use. On a portable amp like this, that's just unacceptable for me. It's pretty loud too. There's also a clicking / static noise I pick up with the FitEars. Yikes.

This thing is going back. Honestly, I can't even evaluate the SQ because the other issues annoy me too much.

Chickens ... I have no problem with. biggrin.gif

I lost any sentimental feelings about ducks after encountering one trying to cannibalize another, dead, one while simultaneously attempting connubial relations.

Also, duck is delicious.

And to put my two cents in: KFC in the US is bad. Popeye's is good. I can still wax nostalgic about great fried chicken at Church's, though the most recent couple times I've tried it, it's been awful. I personally like Bojangles in a guilty-pleasure sort of way -- it's not objectively great but it pushes all the right buttons. Biscuitville has the best breakfast biscuits a fast food chain can offer, so while Bo's is good there's no reason to settle for it.

Fried chicken is supposed to be a specialty where I live now, but in reality it's surprisingly difficult to find small local restos or shops with good fried chicken.

For me, the full-size iPad is increasingly serving as an ultra-ultraportable laptop. Once somebody has a decent git or svn client for it (there are good shell and sftp-based text editors already), I might not need a laptop any more when I'm on the road.

I thought it was just a joke that people would use their large iPads as cameras, until I had a busmate on our tour of Korea who used her iPad as her camera and with no other purpose. I don't get that, I really don't.

Update. Others don't seem to be having a problem with hiss? Maybe there's something wrong with mine. The sound is actually pretty good, so now I'm going to have to try to resolve this dilemma.
