It's rare but not unheard of. The Sennheiser HD 25-1 II has had a right-entry cable for years.

Well whatever the case, I still should try them too. But dayum, that's some big names.... Thanks.

jgray91, was it you last year who was holding out on getting a new mobile, 'cause you didn't like all the junk iPhones & G-phones came burdened with? And may have even sought an old style Moto Razr? If so, I got ur mobile right here! (Cheap-excellent condition-seldom used)

If ur not that head-fier, who in this thread am I thinking of?

On a side note, I'm sitting on a new Droid Razr (Verizon) HD for sale. Bought for a loved one just after Xmas - they passed on a couple of weeks later.

I think you might be thinking about maverickronin. I remember him being anti-modern-inspector-gadget-macgyver-smartphones, iirc.

BTW, have you heard HiFiMAN's new RE-400 yet?  Balanced for the most part I think.  I found the mid-bass response a little sparse, although I liked both the speed and texture across the entire LF.range.  The mids were forward (or maybe it just sounded that way due to the depressed mid-bass).  The highs rolled off just a tad too early for my tastes, but I wouldn't label the unit dark on the whole.  Overall it was an enjoyable listen as long as I'm not in a super-picky frame of mind.  I'm keen to re-audition it with smaller tips as I couldn't find fit any small tips at their CES booth.

Well I've already got jgray convinced he needs a Flat4, so I may as well recommend one to you too. The SUI version is around $400, but quite frankly I think it's up there with stuff more than twice its price.

I'd also recommend the PFE 232 if you can find one for a reasonable price now that Phonak isn't making IEMs anymore. Like the Flat4, the PFE 232 has a certain quality to it that really appeals to me, something you typically find on really high end IEMs. It's a... "cerebral" quality, a sense of delicacy and finesse. That's what I'm always on about when I say something has inner depth. The mids on the IE800 have it too, especially when paired with the UHA-6S. Same with the FI-BA-SS.

It's just one style of IEM however. In contrast, you've also got more "out-of-head" monitors like the Sony EX line, the K3003, and to some extent the TG 334. These are more like full-sized headphones in the way they present music. It's like one brand of cognac versus another... both are good, just different. I tend to prefer the cerebral ones (but the TG 334 is kind of on the border line for me).

I haven't tried the RE-400 yet, but it sounds interesting. I like Fang's previous in-ears I've tried well enough, so I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

That's a really nice looking build. B1o2r3i4s5 did a great job.

[Mod Edit: Please don't try and bypass the swearing filter], the PFE232 has dropped to under £310 here. Can't decide if I should buy it, wait or use the money for the TH600. Maybe I'll try and shift some gear to pay for both.

EDIT: Some words are filtered it'd seem.

Their art department did a really good job on those, especially considering the complexity of the design.
