I don't think the anime thread and I have good synergy.

I'm not going to avoid talking about audio hardware for fear it will distract me from music appreciation.

If anything, having a lifelong fascination with both music and gadgets is complementary. Being able to appreciate how the voicing and technology of a given system affects how I perceive the music has affected how I enjoy music.

Yeah, I tend to agree with this. Though I must admit, the fixation on gear can detract from just sitting back and enjoying music at times.

It would seem we have two new female head-fiers. I can't help but think back to our discussion of gender and being vocal about it.

Don't worry things there are buried and forgotten faster than a man caught in an avalanche. At least that's how I see most things there. >_>

Most aren't invested monetarily in audio gear yet there, and I think most aren't invested much ideologically (well some are). I do think there's some miscommunication there a bit, enough for some to raise their pitchforks. I think that ended pretty tame though.

Mostly I think there's just too much adolescent male zeal there. :P

I feel the same way. It feels like a close-knit group of people that have been around since the beginning, and then there is everyone else. It moves so fast there -- Dangerous fast.

Even though I started ranking up posts in the Anime thread, I don't spend as much time as I did before. It's just that there is a time zone problem. When I'm awake, it's where the activity is at its lowest but when I'm asleep, it's where the activity is at its peak.

Ahh...the anime thread. Dangerous place that.

Anyway, I've completed my WA7/PanAm review. Link is in the sidebar. ==>

Do you think that the PanAm would drive an HE-500 to it's near maximum potential? I'm looking for a desktop amp, currently the Schiit Lyr is on my no.1 spot but if for some reason I can't get the Lyr, will the PanAm be a nice alternative? I really don't know if I will get the triple stack, maybe I will just begin with the PanAm only first but does the external power supply improve the sound?

It always irks me when people with somewhat limited experience in a matter start throwing the science word around.  You better really ******* know what you're talking about before you do that.

I would pick up a La Figaro 339 instead of the Pan Am for the HE-500. Having owned both. There's no doubt about it.

If portability is a big issue though, then it's either the Rx MkIII-B or the Pan Am.

"Hi Im new here. I have problems not getting my verification message in my email :("

Sounds like a prank to me. How's she/he able to post from an unverified account in the first place? Or am I missing something? confused.gif

I honestly don't care if someone thinks his O2 sounds like a B22. More power too him. It's just that self-assured attitude that gets on my nerves, that arrogant disposition that leads to comments about my obviously lacking experience with electrical engineering because I don't think the superiority of the O2 is assured by its THD numbers, or comments about people being foolish for having religious faith.

Really, it's stupid of me for getting into it in the first place. Surely I can find better ways of procrastinating than arguing about this nonsense.

Problem with the 339 is that it's not available anywhere where I live because I want to be able to buy locally. The Lyr is on my no.1 spot because the shop where I bought my HE-500 has one coming. It's at customs and will not arrive till next week.

Exactly. Then, her "girlfriend" materializes and joins the conversation...

Don't you have to have a certain number of posts before your PM limit is revoked and selling privileges are granted? Or is that something else I'm thinking of?

But yeah, they're laying it on a little thick with the "sexy" avatar and second back-up poster chiming in saying she's her girlfriend. Wouldn't be surprised if both accounts were the same person, actually.

Well if you're feeling masochistic you can start here and work your way backwards.

Amen for this. Ehh I hope they will learn to care less about being righteous soon and be more ... what's the word... forgiving? Accepting? Something like that. I also cringe whenever they took a "stand" on being secular, but lets not get into that LOL. That's an even hotter topic.

I'm finding less ways to burn time waiting for [gg] to bloody release JoJo episode 19. But playing FTL is so much fun. (play it.)

That's true, but I don't see how that's connected to what james is saying though.

More FTL madness LOL: This time I used the Zoltan Type A ship, consisting of 3 Zoltans named MuppetFace, DigitalFreak and kiteki. The ship is named Diary Thread. This is the luckiest playthrough of recent times. Got a Pegasus missile launcher early on and a crapton of missiles so that helps in getting rid of shields and using the halberd beam to its fullest power. Along the way scored a Hull laser mk.II, and then scored a glaive beam by selling the halberd and hull laser. Destroyed the boss fight, but Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
the 2nd part of the boss fight, the drone mothership thingy is really the most harrowing fight. Got my ship to less then half hull strength.

With that playthrough (and the previous one) it is clear that the Diary Thread > Anime Thread. :P

Admittedly I used a resources mod for the second playthrough.

gais srzly go bai and pley eeeet dey even got mods and dem shetz.

Oh BTW, I'm calling this the Lily Conundrum. But that's too anime-thread-centric though.
