So I ended up getting one for myself, and finally let my mom have hers.

I've been listening to my GR07 through the PB's HP jack for the last few hours, and I'm floored by the SQ. I completely wasn't expecting sound of this caliber from Blackberry, even though they have a decent track record in that department. I just had to look up the specs. Turns out this baby's packing a WM8994.

At this price, I feel like I got away with a Ferrari for the price of a Corolla.

What the........ I'm in Canada and if I wanted a PB which is made by a Canadian company I'd have to pay more money then someone in the USA does???? Why do I feel like I've been betrayed by one of my own family?

That's unfortunate.

I'd be happy to be a proxy if you decide to get one.

Thanks, but right now I have my bones earmarked for other things. Sorry, I sometimes get riled up concerning how the Canadian public gets raked over the coals by Canadian based businesses and it's not just RIMM either. For example, if a Canadian wants to buy say something from Canadian based Bryston we're paying anywhere from 10 to 20% more on retail pricing through Canadian distributors compared to American distributors. Another example, up here a smart phone contract is usually 3 years through Canadian providers and they rape you on the data charges and your minutes. The only provider who has started offering better deals with shorter contracts and better data plans is WIND which surprise surprise is a foreign owned provider. After seeing that link you threw up it's no wonder RIMM took a huge nose dive in Canadian market share 18 months ago. At one time Canada used to be RIMM territory with little or no outside penetration in the smartphone arena. No more, people over here have been slowly getting more and more fed up with RIMM's selective pricing policies in the Canadian market and the crappy providers they choose to sell their handsets through. They're now having trouble giving their handsets away to Canadians.

Ummm, I'm no end all authority on customs but I'd be highly surprised if you found a custom for under 150. The best you can hope for is maybe getting a remold done on a universal and even then you'll still be looking around or slightly over the 200 mark.

That's funny. When I first came to the States, I was shocked and appalled to find that it cost $2.50/minute to call home from my cell phone, an 800% increase over what it would take to call out from Jamaica. I think part of the reason you guys are charged more is that your economy is slightly stronger. Not to worry though, once more competition moves in, they'll get their act straight.

I miss the rates back home. Then again, America has stuff like free health care, and free two day shipping from Amazon. A fair trade off, IMO.

Talk about speedy...

I have literally seen my packages flat out fly from the AMZN distribution centers onto my porch. I'm beginning to like this company.wink.gif

And this is why I'll remain patriotic.

I think that article has their pictures mixed up, showing the Urban Raver models as the Music Maniacs.

MF, you've heard LCD2 with both tube and ss amps I bet, can you comment on any differences in sound?

I've read a few comments stating that an exceptionally transparent amp such as the BHA-1 or GS-X takes the LCD2 from HD650 territory and brings it more towards HD600. More neutral and better imaging, perhaps faster as well. I've heard these on only tube/hybrid amps except one. Pinnacle, WA5, Liquid Fire, ALO Triode amp, Lyr, and the only SS, RSA's Darkstar. The only one that didn't sound slower, over-smoothed, and relaxed was the Darkstar. In my future is likely a GS-X, Schiit SS Statement, or later perhaps a Darkstar. I remember hearing whispers about an Eddie Current SS amp too. Been itching for an ortho for a while, though they tend to have center focus issues I don't like, not willing to pay for a LCD3 and HE-6 is a torture device (fitment is terrible) so that leaves only 1 choice. Since I've only heard them on one SS amp, I can't be sure what I heard with the Darkstar will happen again with other SS amps. LCD2 on a tube or hybrid does not interest me at all, but LCD2 on a cheaper-than-Darkstar SS amp might satisfy me for a bit.

Get some custom moulded silicone tips for your favorite universal IEMs.

Several different companies do this. I linked to Westone as an example; they're reselling some other company's service, but they have a better product description than most of them. The prices I've seen range from $80-ish to $150-ish, depending on who does it and the material they use.

Anyway, you can knock the price down to about US $20 by getting some Radians mouldable ear plugs and improvising your own custom tips with them.

I don't think it's possible to get a whole-shell custom IEM for $150 (AUS or US) -- anywhere from $50-100 of that is just going to be on the ear impressions at the audiologist (something you do NOT want to cheap out on, especially for your first time), and there won't be enough money left to pay somebody to make the shell and assemble the working bits.

I am having the biggest fanboy moment of my life right now - I just have to share it. I have always been a big fan of Pokemon since I was young. I even got the Nintendo Gameboy -> Advance SP -> DS just to play their corresponding games. Before Head-fi I was actually very active on a competitive forum called Smogon. Anyway, the latest generation of Pokemon is still very new as they were only released 2 years ago, yet the announcement for an even newer generation was just made a few hours ago. The Pokemon franchise is now moving to the 3DS, and guess what: features 3D gameplay! From landscapes to the battles, the new generation is looking like what I imagined in my head as I played Pokemon.

Just rolled an op-amp into the UHA-6S for the first time.

So now I'm listening to the OPA627 through the NT 6 Pro. Wow.

Just... oh wow...

I think I have a boycrush on an op-amp.

That grass starter looks like a lazy rehash of a couple older pokemon.  I like the fire one, though; it looks like an animal!  I wish they started doing that with legendaries again :/  They've looked like ass since gen 3.

I remember thinking a game like this would be on the N64 when I was young and naive.
