It's scheduled for 12:00 PM. GMT +10:00

The above embed is going to go live when the discussion starts but if you want to join in the actual Q/A you need to head over to the actual Youtube watch page.

It's going to be a live Q&A so I would love to see some familiar faces in the discussion :D

We're quite excited because this is something we've been thinking about doing for some time (the discussion format) and if it goes well we hope it can become, like, a thing.

Yep! This is gonna be fun --- hopefully we can get more people involved in subsequent hangouts, if we could just make schedules work!

We've seen pictures of Warren, at least.....it's pretty safe to assume he is indeed part of the male gender. Don't know about wink.....

You know it

But what if Warren was just wearing a mask...

Hey guys, can't remember if I mentioned this on here but I pulled the trigger on a HE-400 this past weekend. HeadAmp has a pretty good deal on open box HE-400's for 249 USD shipped with velour pads tossed in as an extra. They also have a nice deal on a TH 600 if anyone is interested. I've been interested in hearing for myself what the HE 400 sounds like and seeing if all the hype was warranted. About time I had a HifiMan in my stable of cans

Was good to see you in the hangout jgray :D

Our conclusion for the hangout seemed to be: meh about the hardware, but a music store with minimum standards for good mastering seems like it could be cool (if everything really *was* mastered better).

After I finished the hangout I had a long convo with DF and another friend, and I think some of the questions that were raised by the discussion that are worth some further talk:

1. How much input does Neil Young have over the project and how much is he a frontman because he is very prepared to make very public (and frankly silly) comments about digital audio?

2. At what point does a particular kind of 'sound' in terms of production cease to become an aesthetic and start to become regarded as a flaw? (See also: art movements, lens flare, Instagram filters)

3. Do people relate to music in a fundamentally different way these days?

4. If people really do want better mastering, why aren't musicians or producers listening?

The answer to question number 4 is simple, I think...the people that do want better mastering are sadly a very small minority. :(

I know a fair number of people IRL that don't bother with purchasing or even pirating music anymore....they just use the free versions of Pandora and Slacker on their smartphones, and plug said phones into aux-in jacks. One has a Galaxy Note with a microsd slot that has never seen a card, and the others all have 8GB or 16GB iPhones.

When I said that I could never get by with an 8GB smartphone, the iPhone users said,"Why not?"  I didn't bother explaining that even my ears can hear the quality difference between music I have stored on my 4th generation Touch (or my smartphone, for that matter) and what you get with the free version of Pandora, assuming halfway decent headphones.

Nice Corsair, design a $400 PSU that supposedly operates without fan, but in actuality does a self test of the fan every 10 seconds making a "click" sound, and decides the outcome should this self test fail be the immediate shutdown of the power supply.  Eternal thanks for your diligence.

I7 3770k psu, motherboard, two ssds. System maybe uses 100 watts maximum. I can understand they want to make sure the thing wont overheat, but why not use a temperature sensor? Surely just to annoy me.

I feel like adding something a little more upbeat, the new USB card from JPlay/JCAT is a good thing - highly recommended for those building music servers and looking for something to improve. The music software they make, not so much, at least from my experience.
