This seems to be as I remember, from all the times I read Shogun many years ago.

Ahhhhh cool.

Well after the M-100 I'm thinking it's time I temporarily step out of mid-fi and look into something that's a bang for the buck summit-fi can. I was going to originally order a Joe Audio Paradox but after relentless non stop searching through the wastelands of the internet I've finally stumbled across my next headphone that will usher in a new era of summit-fi nirvana for this freak. Everyone feast your eyes below on a headphone that companies like Sennheiser, Fostex and Audio Technica can only dream of ever producing

The audiophile headphone of all headphones (Click to show)

The SpongeBob SquarePants Headphone

Now that's an audiophile headphone if I ever saw one. Heck as an added bonus the form factor seems to be sturdier then most other audiophile grade headphones. Now that's a real plus.

As a heads up, prices on the Koss ESP/950 are tumbling again. I know several people have been looking at them.

That's messed up! ph34r.gif It's my night off from the listening room. Gonna have to live with that h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e and lingering feeling, until I can get back to my own cans tomorrow night.

In Turkic languages, for example in Kazakh, - jan is used after a name to show special attention towards a male or a boy. The word "jan" can be translated as soul. The word "janym" means my darling or my dear.

Yep. Still like the 950s more, their mids are amazing.

Do you still use the energizer with it, or do you switch it out with something else?

It's actually a full amp that comes with it, not just an energizer. However, no, I didn't get the amp with mine, it was used and the seller had dropped the amp and broke it. I use the 950s with my Woo WES, after I had them re-terminated for STAX. All that aside, the 950 amp is good, I've heard it. Especially considering its price, which is pretty much *FREE*.

No kidding here, if you want a real jump-start into stats, for a reasonable price (comparatively), this is it.

I see. What is its particular coloration? I'm trying to figure out what comes closest (950, Paradox, etc.) to the STAX coloration in the 007... I love that headphone.

It's fairly warm and the mids are a little forward, almost what I'd call lush. They're especially impressive with acoustic material and vocals. They aren't as airy as the 007s and have a smaller soundstage, but their bass has more impact.

Hmm, I foresee an issue here --- I prefer airy over bass impact... redface.gif

Fair enough. If you want the signature STAX "air", the only place you'll get it is STAX. Which means, open your wallet wide.

They're worth it, I love my STAX, but some people don't want to, or can't, spend that much. For them, the ESP/950s are a real gem.
