Why, yes. Mildly surprised you remembered.

@MF: I can't listen to that right now because I'm in class, but I recognize that album art and the album itself was one of my favorites from 2011.

Thank you guys! Now, after my first day there, it feels really good. Despite being a rather slow day (well, it was my first one) I still got some work done and presented my boss a new idea on how to improve and develop their database system with a web frontend and ASP.NET/ADO.NET backend. He liked very much.

Now, it looks very bad to me, but I wanted to know if anyone knew exactly what might happen to my friend? None of us can get through to him.

Aghh, that sounds like trouble. Being drunk is never a viable defense. Being depressed shouldn't be, although he could perhaps use it as a reason to avoid jail - I mean if he's not mentally fit for jail/prison? In Sweden he wouldn't get jail for it if it was his first time offense, but it sure wouldn't look good for him.

The MSI GT70 ONE looks like a really enticing computer. Its matte display is excellent, and for those that care it has among the best laptop speakers on the market; and interestingly, a dedicated headphone amplifier. Its steel series chiclet keyboard looks well designed and its battery life is very close to the 7 Gamer, with NotebookCheck reporting 4 hours of web browsing at 67% brightness. If I bought it I would get this model, which is identical in case and components to the top spec $2500 model you mentioned without the extra 4GB of RAM, GTX 680M, or 2 mSATA SSD's:

That said, the GT70 is spec'd slightly better than the 7 Gamer for the same price, while being fully upgradeable, which is impressive. Given the laptop's size/weight (slightly larger yet lighter) and design in comparison to the 7 Gamer, do you think taking it around with me would be viable?

Overall, its starting to look like everything I wanted within my price range, and with little compromise. I know the way I change my decision whenever we talk is hilarious, but your insight is just that helpful to me wink.gif

Thanks my friend! Yeah, I have been waiting to get out and work, and finally I get to do it! It feels very good.

The MSI one is a great gaming laptop. As for being taking it around with you, I think it's just as bad as any gaming laptop would be. Perhaps the Samsung would be a tiny bit easier, but truth be told, most of these machines aren't meant to be carried around all the time. The Samsung one would probably be just a better bad choice for portability. wink.gif Although, most 15" laptops aren't exactly lightweight either, so I guess if you can carry a 15" every day, a 17" gaming one wouldn't be much worse.

LOL as for changing your mind, I know how it is. Each day I'm divided by: power from the P370EM or better portability from the P170EM - but I'm still leaning towards the P370EM with the next gen cpu and gpu. I'll save up for it. As said, I won't be carrying it around too much, just from my desk to my couch to my kitchen and so on.

If you really like the MSI, they do sell their laptops as barebones to other manufacturers like Force: http://www.xoticpc.com/forcemsi-1762-52007-670m-msi-gt70-barebones-p-4347.html

I can't tell how much Force has changed it from MSI, but they sell them for a pretty compelling price.

I made a new inner headband for my SR Lambdas this weekend.  Ultrasuede on the bottom, some good quality leather-grain upholstery vinyl on top, and some nice soft memory foam in the middle.  Much more comfy than the old one.  I need to make some Ultrasuede and memory foam pads too.  I'll stick to the original shape fairly closely.  I just want a little more comfort.

Nice! Those old headbands get pretty tattered over time. I've replaced most of them with the newer SR-404 bands, but yours looks more comfy.

I was confused with that silver 'hat' for quite some time before I realised that it's a stand. >_>

Missed this earlier when I was skimming a bit to catch up but I hope it works out for you.

I'm going to turn into a seamstress at this rate or something.   wink_face.gif  I sorta wonder if I should get a good sewing machine and start a side business doing pads and headbands where J$ left off or something like that.  My hand stitching is pretty sloppy looking but some practice with a sewing macing should probably get me to a decent level.  I just kinda winged this one but it turned out ok.  It looks a little rough around the edges but it's pretty comfy and that was my main objective.

These Lambdas are going to be completely overhauled before long.  So far I've had to chop the cord off at the Y split, split it another foot, and resolder it to the drivers since it was cutting out intermittently; cleaned out the crumbling foam oddly flattened fiberglass damping in back of the grills/cups; replaced it with some new fiberglass; and replaced the headband.

Next are the DIY pads...

Nice work! Where do you get decent ultrasuede without paying an arm and a leg? JoAnn Fabrics is the only fabric store available to me, and the quality of microfiber fabrics there isn't great.

I don't know.

I used this but it's hardly cheap.  They at least let you order as little as an 1/8 yard and they'll send you plenty of samples for only a few bucks.

Well that's not surprising to me you named your Fostex considering I named my three amps Sally, Itoru and Marilyn. By the way what does Nami Chan mean? Is it a proper name of a woman or does it mean something specific like mother or auntie or something like that?

I'm not really sure if it does mean anything. It's from a character of a parody manga that makes plays on words, so it means something in the context of that manga. I suppose I could be a real name, but then I don't know a lot about Japanese culture to know if it's a common name. -chan is just a honourific to express endearment, mostly towards girls. It's also used for little boys, pets and even among lovers. it's sort of used to give a sense of childish cuteness.
