But seriously, an all-metal, closed-back headphone that supposedly uses Fostex TH-series drivers?  No one wants a piece of that action?

Not unless it is under 200 dollars.....

I read the reviews of the Dido but not paying more than $400 since I am lining up for the TH900.

.

Totally new to the market and unproven. Unless they come with a return policy, no deal.

Hence the listening tour being organized to let more people hear it.

Really though, it's not the sound that worries me since they're using Fostex biocellulose drivers. Rather it's the construction; for instance the earpads which can't be replaced.

Moon Audio offers a 14 day return policy.

Really? I maybe once had a real problem with a genesis emulator. Same for SNES. People have issues with official re-releases all the time. Final fantasy Tactics on iOS was apparently a nightmare for like... 2-3 years.

If they put Crazy Taxi on sale again, I'll probably get it. One of the best time kills I've ever had the joy of playing.

That,s it MF, I bailed on the Fidelio X1 for the same reason. I really wanted to get it after a listen but the non-replaceable

pads were a deal-breaker.

Just paid almost $100 for a set of pads for a 10+ year old MDR-F1 from audiocubes.

@Mshenay: yeah, I'm kinda wondering how you went about that since Genesis is usually one of the easiest things to emulate... are you on some really obscure Linux distro or something?

About Dido:

  • It's been mentioned before, but I think only Warren paid attention. "Dido" is a somewhat poor romanization of the Taiwanese (Hokkien) language pronunciation of "Spider" --- hence a spider logo. Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with the singer or anyone from Tunisia.
  • A better way to spell it would be "Deedoo" or "Deeduu" --- say it out loud in a monotonous, robotic, flat-tongued drone.
  • As I wander around the streets of Taipei, I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a Perfect Sound product. It's one of those brands that has more recognition outside of its native country, like Kingrex before it. Interestingly, Moon Audio also carries Kingrex stuff. There's a reason for this, however. The Taiwanese only buy local stuff that is considered "good value", like Firestone Audio. Anything premium priced gets looked at with a leery eye and they'd much rather buy Japanese, German, or American. Typical foreign brand fawning mentality.
  • No, I have not heard it myself, though it looks flashy cool.
  • I also don't know the people behind it, or how they got their hands on high-tech psyllium husk.

I am also very tired. :o

Hmm - that's interesting. Are there many high-end products in Taiwan that are imported from the USA? We (or at least I) don't hear much about that sort of thing. What are some of the US products that are highly valued in Taiwan (besides cigarettes & whiskey tongue.gif)?

Too many to count and enumerate. It's a natural side effect of the course of modern history, that I won't bother to get into here.
