But for USD 100 dollars, I think you still got a pretty good bargain there, good job.
For all the Sony attempts so far in recent yrs, apart from my MDR-EX90/CD2000's I'm very very impressed with what they did for the recent in-ears like the MDR-7550/EX800ST/MDR-EX1000 models. Has fast enough transients/attack for Metal/Rock stuffs, good and punchy bass quality for Electronica/Electro-pop genres and very excellent for Classical/Pop vocals as well. Very hard to fault them unless you have specified issues with them in terms of fit, but the EX monitors manages to fit really well with my ears in terms of ergonomics fit so I really liked my EX800ST, one of my best buys in terms of portable IEMs. Their isolation factor would probably be the only thing I would fault them, if I have to pick out their flaws compared to other IEMs.
And why did you gave the disappointed "sigh" earlier regarding the ATH-ESW11 LTD's prices when I shared them with you? For a limited edition portable cans, you mean you didn't expect that sort of pricing? biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Im a High School Student, if I spend 600 dollars on an headphone then my parents would kill me.......

After getting the XBA 3 I still want an IE80 to compare with :P

I just watched Looper today. The acting and soundtrack were superb. I didn't like the story though. I can never really like movies with time travel because you're basically left with a lot of questions.

I don't really consider it a feel good movie. It was kinda depressing honestly seeing them in that situation.

There is now apparently. Rumored to be 25k yen for the Z200 and 18k yen for the Z100. I hope to god it's worth the money since that's more than double of what the FXT90 is. But since this is a true successor in my eyes, my body is ready (while my wallet is not).

Listening to the ESW9 this morning for the first time in a while. I've theorized for a while that newer ESW9s have been upgraded to sound closer to the ESW10JPN compared to their older iterations.

I'm really excited over the ESW11LTD which is slated for a November release (around my b-day). Gotta admit tho, I'm disappointed that they look so much like the ESW9. They are perhaps a shade darker, though it's difficult to tell in pictures due to lighting. The woodgrain also looks different, but I'm not sure how much variation exists in the ESW9's wood to begin with, so yeah. The wood employed for the ESW11LTD is different however: it's black walnut, I think?

People have mentioned wanting a lacquer finish. That's only reserved for their "Japan" models however. As I've said numerous times by now, I would have liked a lighter blonde wood with a more natural finish. I think that would look really great on an Ear Suit. Oddly up until now, every "Limited" model has featured such wood. The EW9-NR was a limited version of their wooden clip-on, and I think it looks amazing. I would have LOVED the ESW11LTD to have this type of look:

Nope. They've always used the T50RP cup AFAIK.

From what I've seen, Schenker looks like the most quality reseller, as far as options and services goes. AVADirect is probably their closest equivalent in the US in regards to build options --xoticpc/sager just offer quick builds. As for the x7200...13.2 pounds? Wow ><

A build with the P370 could be a bit expensive, but looks like perfection to me in every way. OTOH, is upgradibility really that significant? The current cpu/gpu connection standards (PGA/MXM) have been around for quite a while, and who knows when they'll change. What makes the Clevo significant to me is the ability to build it with top-end parts that for the most part, aren't accessible in the pre-built market at all, for a realistic price. For a high-end laptop (rather than a top-end one) a prebuilt from Samsung seems just fine.

I haven't bought the Samsung Gamer Series 7 (700G7C-s01us) yet, but probably will. The thing is, while $1699 is a great price for what your getting; the price has been even better in the past. Apparently from what I learned on retrevo.com, the 700G7C held an average summer sale price of $1429 on amazon (from 1st party amazon as the seller) from early spring all the way until the beginning of August, when all computer/parts prices seem to go up. I'm going to wait till black friday and see if it heads back that way again. If not, I don't think it's going up past $1700 during the holidays.

A particularly interesting Clevo model is the 11.6" W110ER. It's twice the thickness of ultrabooks; but with a 2gb 650M and the option to choose a full Quad-core i7, you've got as much power as the Series 7 Chronos for around $1200 in a very portable form factor. And with a 720P display, it nets an average of 70fps on high settings while gaming, which is quite better than the Chronos.

Yeah, the W110ER is a real good smaller computer if you want to game on it. I'd personally think the screen was too small, but I can imagine many people thinking it's okay. I used to have a netbook close to that size, and to be honest, despite being a good laptop - it was just too small.

I agree about the P370EM, and that's why I'm looking to get one of them. I'll probably buy it in the spring instead, because it's pretty expensive and because the new Haswell architecture, and the newer 780M gpus are said to be released by then. From my understanding, and from reading on nbr forums, the 780M is basically the same gpu as the desktop 680. Having them in SLi would be ridiculous performance for a notebook.

Oh, and from my understanding, there should be a Samsung 7 Gamer with 7970M (or to be released, I haven't read the thread that much).

I've read about the new 7 Gamer; I'm just not sure whether it will be worth waiting for. The 7970M is a great card given its price to performance ratio, but Enduro is really bad compared to Optimus, doing nothing for battery life while hurting performance. If Samsung offered it without Enduro --or if AMD fixed their drivers-- I'd certainly consider it. At the same time though, I've read that the current 7 Gamer might drop to $1200-1300 on Black Friday, which is a ridiculously good price.

With the latest Optimus update, 7 Gamer owners claim they're getting a solid 4.5 hour battery life on internet browsing with the display just below half. Although higher than real life use, anandtech's numbers confirm that the current 7 Gamer has great battery life: http://www.anandtech.com/show/6343/avadirect-clevo-p170em-amds-hd-7970m-got-game/8

The 7970M will give you the performance of the 680M for $250 less, but the Nvidia cards look like more balanced options. Hopefully we'll be able to see how Samsung chooses to deal the battery life issues brought in by the 7970M when they put it on the market.

That said, I can't wait to hear about your monster when spring comes around beerchug.gif

I just nicked my friend's Beats Studio to take a listen to it after for so long. used my 5 test songs that I used back when I went to audition a few stuff at jaben. And honestly, ourely sound-wise, I'm confused. Why sis this bad again? Sure this is bassy. But I don't think they're that bad to receive all the hate they got. Works quite good for male voice, female didn't very well. Bass is of course quite good, for midbass at least. Subbass is kind of iffy, but I think it's still there. Highs are shoved quite back though. Overall I think it's a good bassy cans.

So, what's so bad about them again?

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
They're going to take my audiophile privileged card now, aren't they?

I tried them.....one of my bosses bought himself a set. They're not too awfully bad, except for the fact that I have a $30 set of headphones that sound better. And a $35 set, and a $47 set.....lol. Really, they're simply incredibly overpriced for what you get.

My main issue with them is how the ANC effects the highs, but they're not terribad, no.

MF, have you ever listened to the Art of Noise? I think that you might like them. They were one of the first bands to use sampling synths to create interesting mixes of noise/music.

Yeah, I've heard some of their stuff over the years.

Do you mean synths in general, or specifically sampling? Both predate AoN as far as I know.
