The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2 - Page 1243

I agree with a_rec that sometimes listening to singers who are already very skilled/talented is not always as fun as listening to singers who are not as good. Early in her career, Hikaru Utada had a very difficult time with her upper register and would frequently sing out of key at the top of her vocal range. In albums such as First Love, Distance and Deep River, she would sound strained during peak moments. As she became more experienced, she got more comfortable singing these. Though some of her songs still have a ton of emotion behind them, such as her most recent single, some of them almost sound sterile/clinical now. When she puts forth a great amount of effort, she sounds even more convincing than before, but it feels like she has to try harder than she used to in order to achieve that effect now.

This is me not being so candid and letting it all out after getting fed up with a certain segment of the hobby

Hahaha DF!!!

I know what you mean.

On the Sony PCM-M10 thread we were talking about this and I posted recently on a thread about this very same thing! I HATE THESE COMPANIES expecting us to pay $200, $500, $1000 for DAPs that basically suck ***!!!! That's why I'm using a Cowon C2 and probably buy a D20 just cause...

Do I want a boutique DAP that doesn't need an external amp?!?

OF COURSE! But... I WANT ONE THAT WORKS LIKE IT SHOULD!

So I'm with you buddy!

I think quite possibly we need to redefine "boutique" and "High End"  If the manufacturer refused to support a product, how can that possibly be considered the apex of audio? That type of attitude used to be reserved (and expected from) the bargain basement here today gone tomorrow devices.

I've tried 2 HiSound products, they both suck due to the same reason, buggy UI and lack of firmware support! The sound is not anything special either. My Studio V, straight out of the headphone jack seemed to have a bit of a bass roll-off. Really wanted to try FiiO X3 since their amps seem to be of decent quality and because they have line-out too on the player but after reading the threads... I'm not so sure. Maybe the X5 will be "it"... (they have enough time, it seems they will release that one next year).. but maybe not... I'll just stick with the already tested players, either Cowon or a new Sony Walkman offering (depends if they will allow to read microSD cards...), etc.

As some one who loves BRIGHT headphones, I think Hifiman Daps are excellent! my HM 601 cost me $125. Best thing I owned to date

Hey Muppet, still liking the new S-EM6 as much? Can they really hold their own against 335 and 435?

It's a replacement for the android DSP. If you have a 'droid device you need this.

Yeah, I wonder which fan boy it was, HiSound, iBasso, or AK. I also posted a comment concerning Fiio on the videos thread so maybe it could even be a Fiio fan boy.
