I never used Sony DAP since the minidisc era but this is supposed to be their TOTL for 2014

Nah, I wish. Portable amp. Their goal is to make it sound like one of their desktop amps. There's an announcement on their page

Ah portable amps....cough cough unwieldy stack...cough cough. what will you pair it with?

Man... I wish I could say something about it lol but uh... no comment.

SO HOW BOUT THAT SONY WALKMAN

I've actually got a Sony RH-1 HI-MD player. It's kind of a piece of crap in terms of make, but kinda neat all the same. I always wished Sharp would have entered the Hi-MD game back in the day with their 1-bit AUVI technology

I haven't used mds for maybe 15 years at least...how do you go on about putting music on them these days?

I don't lmao

Back in the day though, it was either in real time via optical, or via my Sharp NX-10 which had an MD deck on it and fast dubbing. After I migrated to Hi-MD, I used Sonic Stage. I still remember having to title all of my tracks by hand on my Sharp DR-7 lol

I recall some CDs had a text function info whatever and you could title the MDs automatically no?

You're thinking of Gracenote, yeah. God that was really handy back in the day. After awhile, Sony shut down Sonic Stage support and so Gracenote no longer linked their database to it. I still have got like a box full of MDs down in my basement, and some mixes sent from overseas penpals and acquaintances over at the former Mindisc T-Station lol, real blast from the past whenever I rifle through my boxes lookin for a cable or something

That does look untouchably awesome. Hope the performance is as exciting as the design.
