that stuff is pretty nice to use, flexible, easy to strip and solder etc.  Its a bit expensive though if you don't care for nice looking wire.

SIde note: I hate pre-orders, the wait is killing me.  I need to find something else to keep me occupied.  I guess I could fix that cable...

I suppose this is an easy fix somehow, but I'm thinking that the cable is pretty fragile all the way from the connector to the headphones, so I'm thinking of recabling it altogether. This is actually the fun part, because I have several headphones of myself that I want to recable (mostly for the looks but also perhaps shorter cables). Last time I soldered anything was a good 20-25 years ago, so outside of buying an soldering iron I reckon I need to practice some, because I don't want to destroy anything.

1) Should I buy a more expensive iron/station with temperature settings and such, or is a "soldering pen" good enough? The price difference isn't that big.

2) Should I go lead-free with the tin or...?

3) Perhaps most importantly, what kind of cables should I look for? Speaker cables? Microphone cables? There is no special "headphone cable" in Sweden to buy, but I reckon the type of cable is available under a different "label" (i.e. "microphone cable").

Might be rehashing but.. I do little things like fix minor electronics stuff, reconnect bad joints, recables & diy cables. Here's what I recommend/use myself.

1)A soldering pen is good enough for recable. A inexpensive $10-20 low watt one will do. My iron's done well from repairing laptops to diy cable making.

2)63/37 is a godsend! It sets a lot faster than the 60/40 stuff. If you don't do a ton of soldering, the little bit of lead won't effect anything. Just clean it up and make sure no children or pets get to it and try to eat it.

3) Microphone cable works best IMO after you strip of the rubber sheathing. Speaker cables will work but keep in mind that you'll need 2 per driver. One for the signal and one for ground. I don't know about you but... speaker cables would look pretty bulky on an IEM. CAT5 works too but it's not as malleable/pliable. It's great for interconnects tho...

4) Most importantly, Have fun! dt880smile.png

I've fallen madly in love with Saints Row IV

Any game where you ride a nuke into the stratosphere while Aerosmith wails in the background, become the US president, and fight off an alien invasion at the helm of a massive cannon hidden in the lawn of the Whitehouse is ballin' in my book. And that's just in the first 10 minutes of the game.

The first fifteen minutes of SR3 was also similarly insane. So glad that Volition survived the dissolution of THQ and that the game is a commercial success. They may not be the refined games, or the most memorable, but I'll be damned if the Saints games aren't some of the most immediately gratifying and stupidly fun

I liked Saints Row 3 more than GTA4. It was more GTA-y while GTA4 went all Simcity on us. SR3s over the top silliness + goofball story line was more enjoyable. The "realistic" driving in GTA4 made me want to hurl a controller every time, it was so frustrating. mad.gif Thus, GTA4 never got passed a few hours play while I went on to complete SR3.

GTA IV actually felt more like a dating sim to me with the way you were expected to manage all of these relationships while cross crossing the city. Was super annoying. I actually liked the physics in GTA IV. Euphoria was an amazing physics engine and largely avoided the issue of repetitive canned animations, but I can see why some people would dislike it. The driving in SR is really arcade-y, I mean, it's cool that you can stop on a dime and ****, but all fhe vehicles feel the same and it's not as fulfilling to learn the handling nuances between vehicles. With that said, I'm really looking forward to GTA V. I like that they're cribbing the Yakuza 4 idea of multiple protags, and GTA online just looks balls out crazy

Yeah, it was definitely Sim-Life. I didn't mind the arcade-y driving because it's usually an afterthought for me. I'm not looking for clean driving lines and doing Apex turns in a game like GTA/SR. If I want that, I'd throw in Forza or GT. I want to get from point a to b without fighting the controls and powersliding and donuting the whole way there. I did wish there were more varieties like the GTA3s where you wanted to save certain cars in your garage but not to the extent of 4. The really nice cars were a lot more manageable.

E: *Sigh* Doesn't matter tho because I have zeeero time for games nowadays. Maybe I can get back to playing when my son is older... dt880smile.png

So far, billybob_jcv and EveTan.  Tomorrow I get to meet Silent One.  tomscy2000 is busy tomorrow.

Last hour, sent tomscy2000 a message suggesting if he could swing by the Marina for 20 minutes after our meeting, ksc75smile.gifwe'll re-convene.

...and a soldering iron, tin and other stuff for soldering. LOL

...and marker pens for drawing, and some more sketchpaper.

Guess things were too busy for you wink.gif

I just wish that Volition would go ahead and make Descent 4. I miss those games. Is Keith David in SR4?...
