P.S.

Go with the first one, it looks rather neat

I have to for my job.  I think it's even less practical to carry around two separate phones.  Plus they're all fragile as hell so they need a case.  My RAZR didn't need a case...

I'm going to root it right away and probably mess with it a lot.  Hopefully turn it into something functional.

Also, DF doesn't get it if he's recommending the first one.  biggrin.gif

As someone who's been into anime and manga for around 6 years now (wow it's that long??) I should know...
Warning: Ignorant post! (Click to show)
$5k for spidey-phone? I will be very disappointed if even the wires inside the cups aren't some overprice cables. Because why not use Jesus-cable inside too if you're already using it outside right? Also the wood must be some some sort of endangered species of tree, since it commands such a high price like that. Meteor-alloy Jesus-cable + endangered tree wood = $5k. Seems legit.

Fostex should capitalise on the lower end, since that's where people are more willing to pay. But then, what do I know. I think it's a given that a lower end TH900 is going to come out. But my god, that's some sexy looking phone though! Magnesium matte black = want. $1k, not so much.

I forgot to ask the Jaben guys about the LCD2 back when I was in Malaysia, so boohoo for me. frown.gif Now that there's a closed version, is it fair to expect it almost the same as the LCD2, only with 100% more noise isolation?

I know it's kinda late to agree with this but I felt the exact way. What a funky color.... I got irritated every time I logged on and saw it lol ;).

Another new product that caught my eye:

The Woo Audio WA7. I've never been a big fan of Woo amps, but this particular design is really interesting. Has a built in DAC too. Looks perfect for an office.

The Fostex can looks interesting and I'm hoping it gets it's day in the sun on head-fi. Here's hoping MF grabs a set of these so we all can get impressions from someone who knows what shes talking about.  As for the 5000 bone Spidey can, well lets just say my thinking is a fool and his money are soon parted. I for see some middle aged overly rich yutz with more money then sense running all over various boards on head-fi screaming endgame and posting pictures of his Spidey can on the head of his 21 year old trophy wife. On the plus side though maybe in another years time well see a Venom or Lizard Man styled headphone to compliment the Spidey headphone. Next up Audeze, I think what Audeze is doing could be interesting. I just wish they'd stop producing cans with a form factor that looks like it was put together by a couple of drunk geeks in their fathers garage. Should be interesting to see if these headphones make it to market and what the final locked in sound will be. I've always thought the Woo stuff was a little pricey but most people who own them seem to really like the sound. I like the look of those new DAC/amp combos from Woo. Let's hope Woo doesn't demand a kidney for them.

I'd imagine Lawton isn't too giddy. The TH600 has potential, but it's an unknown quantity right now, and the Denons on which he based his business have now all been discontinued, which might drive sales in the very short run, but in the long run actually hurt potential sales more I'd imagine, both in terms of new stock viability and in terms of peoples' reluctance to mod discontinued headphones.

Also as nice as Lawton's cups are, I wouldn't want to replace the those TH600 ones with them. Especially as they're metal and not wood.

Nice to see Fostex is getting more attention. Back when the TH900 was first announced, it seemed like very few people actually cared. Kiteki and myself were some of the only head-fiers talking about it. Now within two days of their younger sibling's announcement, there's an anticipation thread for them. Also the odd "wow these look like the old Denons" comment now and then still. LOL.

Rather beautiful looking home rig. If everything sounds as good as it looks it could be a case where style and function happily cohabitate.

I've got a Gungnir on order. Hope it comes in this week. As good as the Bifrost is, there's a good bit of room for improvement. Plus, the magic tubes in my Lyr need some seriously good music to show them off.

A technical question: I just got my first blu-ray audio disc, but it won't output a signal from the digital-out on my blu-ray player. Do I need to change the audio settings on the player? It outputs all my cd's just fine. I'm using the coax connection.

I think I will go with this one.  Should I add something else, like maybe a quote, or leave it clean and simple?

That does look pretty cool.  A full TC amp and 32/192 USB DAC in a tiny little package is pretty cool.  They said the power supply is separate though.  I wonder how large it is.

That's all down to the individual player.
