About time we finally learn what happened to the Borealis....

Didn't we already find out what happened to it in Portal 2? It's more what the Borealis was carrying....

Anyway, this is sort of a "believe it when I hear more" kinda thing. There have been so many false alarms for this thing, I reflexively ignore most supposed insider announcements.

I was thinking about Kumitate's work the whole day..threw me off my work groove...until I finally got around to PMing him.

But not without reading that blog of his first. And I came across...

GRAPHS. GRAPHS. GRAPHS GALORE.

This is great. I was looking at UM and Custom Art, both of which (I believe) have their own measurement rigs. Why would that be relevant? Well I was of the mind that such a small outfit would not have access to a rig. How gladly was I proven wrong.

Also, I was planning on requesting for some "funky" things to be checked out with the reshell candidates if it were possible (Westone 4s that I've been begrudgedly lugging around for the past year just for this occasion).

So one more resheller candidate is added to the fray. And I must say, Kumitate's stuff looks a tad bit more aesthetically appealing.

The warranty on these W4s are ending after 2 more months. I can't believe I've held back on reshelling them for so long. Some praise must be given to my tenacity...such highly attuned cheapskate-oscity one does not often come by.

(oh and the rest of the beautiful work shown on the blog is all the more appealing)

Also I did not realize the C435s were using TWFKs. You learn something new everyday.

So I take its off you "to get list" because its a TWFK? :P.

Alright, update on operation neutral. This morning both my UERM and Paradox arrived on Canadian soil. We have the UERM in Richmond BC galloping along from the west and we have the Paradox in Mississauga Ontario blazing a trail from the east. Rather amusing that smack in the middle of the continent is little old me in river city aka frozen schiit hole aka loserpeg aka Winnipeg. Something else that's amusing, they both showed in their tracking entering Canada within 3 minutes of one another. Right now the UERM has a 3 minute lead any bets on which one will arrive first?

Nah, I just came across tomscy2000's chart and noticed it. Have no strong opinion against it either way. It's a cool, fun fact. Does that make me sound too dorky? :3

Also an addendum. I realize the nature of Kumitate's blog is heavy on the analysis and the graphs as is the nature of such a blog. So my previous comment might have trivialized that part a tad bit just by pointing out that one graph in particular.

Now you can say that we've met through indirect contact from your CIEMs. Since they've touched Richmond soil.

So which one are you looking forward to most? Did UE provide you any pictures of what they look like? Also how long did it take UE to make your IEMs? Spiral Ears made my SE5s in a week. That's very impressive compared to Heirs 8+ weeks.

...Wait what?

And this always boggled me whenever I looked at a photo of a SE - what the heck is that red strand (presumably wire but it looks like strands of wool or something)?

It took UE a little under 4 weeks I think. They didn't send me any pictures and I didn't find out they had shipped until Mike Dias emailed me. He handled the order himself and took care of the details. Before I talked to Mike I had tried emailing UE for information involving getting artwork and never got a response. I think it was someone on this thread, you or Tom maybe, who suggested I PM Mike and see if he could answer my questions. When he found out I had emailed their customer service various times and hadn't gotten a response he was so taken aback he apologized for the inconvenience and offered to personally handle my order. I'm equally looking forward to getting the UERM and Paradox. Both gears are personalized for me and as such their mine in the truest sense of the word.

I think I discussed it on thread before but for those who weren't around below is the artwork and shell color I settled on. The only exception to the pic is I chose a black cable instead of clear.

1000

As for the Paradox, I seem to have picked a cup color that nobody else has asked for. Luis was rather delighted how they turned out.

Yes they made my SE5s in a week. Same with Greed and Oz. They seem to have gotten noticeably better at assembling them plus they work on weekends :). It took a little over 3 weeks though for my impressions to reach them (which is not normal from what I'm told). So overall very happy with the experience and Grzegorz  was very polite and patient during communications. I wasn't made to feel like a Pariah if you get my meaning ;).

Those are all wires they use. I'm not sure what type of wire it is but it looks neat and industrial if you will. I was just worried my ears wouldn't fit everything since my ears are noticeably different than most people (big but flatter as well). These IEMs are indeed the most complicating looking (5 way design) I've seen. It's crazy how much stuff they can fit in there (moar please! :P).

4 weeks is still quite good for completion times. Looking forward to your impressions on them. BTW how much did they set you back?

Exactly 1100 USD. 1000 for the UERM and an extra 100 for the artwork.

You know something, now that I think about it if I was to somehow score a Thunderpants to own alongside my Paradox and incoming Alpha Dog I'd have the holy trinity of the T50rp modders.

..........

I don't believe I just wrote that. I never knew my Catholicism was so deeply engrained in me, lol.

That's not too shabby. Since I bought my SE5 with Greed in a group buy we got a slight discount. So combining our orders the price was $1610.48 (each) shipped to our proxy. Then I'll just have to pay another $50.00 to have them shipped directly to me. We decided to just do our own shipping incoming to the US as we wouldn't save much more than $20.00 on shipping honestly and it wouldn't be worth the hassle of shipping again to the next person. I do suggest you look into a dryer for your IEMs DigitalFreak. At this price range it's best to take care of them and have them functioning at full potential at all times. I ordered this from amazon.com
