It's okay; you're putting them in your ears. It's not dangerous until you bury it under the ground.

But yes I've totally fallen in love with the NEX. Along with the SEL2418z and a collection of curious old glass lenses (I recently got a Asahi Super Takumumar that uses Thorium in the glass and is thus mildly radioactive!!!!!) I'm having a lot of fun with it. <3

From the Japanese people I know, they say, NEE-kon, but I tend to say NIGH-kon. It's like Americans saying "I-KEE-a" when apparently, the real pronunciation is "e-KAY-a"

chyeah? I thought it was "Jeah!" ? tongue.gif

I was in the stores yesterday and Sony's display was showing of the entire lens range. There were way more of them than I had expected.

Speaking of cameras, I've decided, after getting a D800 that I'm going to do almost all my indoor photography with 24mm f2.8 and 35mm f2 primes.
The prime lenses all seem to be stupidly expensive. I guess I know where I stand on my camera choices now with thoughts like that lol. Still, going to a store to compare between the NEX-5S and Lumix GX1. And between Fuji X20 and Sony RX100,

I do almost all my photography with the one 24mm 1.8 lens. It's such a good walkaround lens, with a 6cm minimum focus distance so it also acts as macro-ish. It was expensive but so worth the investment for me.
Well, isn't it just like headphones? We know the model numbers and the competing camera systems, and then there is some common language in terms of aperture numbers and focal lengths etc.

I honestly did not really start getting into photography till I got my first prime lens.

I guess you can take a look at some of the first party PS3 video games trailer or the PS3/4 trailers. They usually have the word Sony said in there and it sounds Japanese-like. :P
Wish I don't think prime lens are too expensive so that I'm more comfortable getting them lol.

Have a look at the Sigma 30mm f2.8 for NEX jgray. It's one of the sharpest lenses for the system and it (relatively) very cheap.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/918900-REG/sigma_30mm_f_2_8_dn_for.html

That's the new 'art' version, but the old (identical version) you can find on eBay for about $159. At some point it was on clearance for $99 in some places which was mindblogging.

The other good primes for NEX are the new Sony 20mm f2.8 and the 35mm f1.8, though they are more expensive. The 35mm is even sharper than my Zeiss, cheaper, smaller and with image stabilization, but I just find 24mm a good focal length to work with for the stuff I like to take.

+1, sometimes you make a trip just to go and not worry about getting there.

Not sure. Might be slang from where you live. I only know "また" means "again" and is often said in despair.

The f1.4 primes are horrendously expensive, but I'm only using the cheaper ones. Given how rushed some of my shots of kids are, having a heavier, an ultra-sharp $2k prime isn't going to be anything other than massive overkill as I'm not going to to be printing posters. The basic AF-S D ones are sharp enough, small and light and make it easy to take shots. Now I've moved up to FX, a 35mm is spot-on whereas I wanted a 24mm for DX. After borrowing the crazy 14-24mm zoom from Anakchan, I've found that I used it mostly at 24mm on the D800, which decided things for me. I have the kit lens, a 28-300mm which I can take with me outdoors when I have NFI what I might end up shooting and the distortion and loss of sharpness wont be noticed.

Urgh I did something smart, I ordered two of the new Furutech Mini XLR's to build a pair of interconnects.  No way I'm paying 60 dollars postage for 2 connectors.  I'm smart.  Anyway local supplier has them, but I lose 10% from the discount partsconnexion was having, plus 6 dollars local postage, probably 16 dollars for my stupidity.  Could be worse I guess.  they look purdy though:

I'm planning to use cotton jacket over the cables.  Also building a cable for my HD800's based around rectangular litz wire in cotton.  Should be fun.  I'm not expecting it to make much SQ difference, at this point I'm mostly doing it for the aesthetics and because it's something I've been hovering around doing for so long.  Shame is I'm still a little superstitious, I ordered connectors that I thought *might* sound better as opposed to the ones I thought would look the best.  Oh well I guess I can always change the connectors if I feel like it later (they really aren't that pretty).  Seems odd for an architect to compromise on aesthetics I know, but I am surprisingly willing to compromise on aesthetics when it comes to my gear.

Looks nice, I like.

Camera's is one of the few hobby's I have managed to keep myself out of, if not I forsee many thousands spend on more equipment not contributing to my career.  Although camera's are probably more useful that hifi equipment for an architect.

That looks snazzy. What's that?
My monkey fingers find the NEX line of cameras fit for small hands. I was so afraid of the NEX-5R slipping out from my fingers. The kit lens used also doesn't help with the balance of it in hand.

For ultimate balance in hand, add about 5 lbs to the body. This mod is brought to you by my old and busted:

Nah it's slang from the woman that cuts my hair. The best translation I have is "geez!" Lol
I've never heard また used like that. That's cool.

So apparently, I have no idea how to pronounce Ikea.

Oh, be careful about using slang. Japanese has male and female ways of saying some things. Often what happens is that male gaijin end up having many female Japanese friends and pick up their language. If they speak it, they sound like a woman!
